  • Kotaku Resident Evil 5 Preview

Along with several other gaming websites, Kotaku received a playable copy of the first three chapters of Resident Evil 5. Capcom has apparently made a believer out of Brian Crecente:

It only took one and a half chapters of Resident Evil 5 to convince me that everything I thought about the game, everything I disliked was totally off base.

Sucks their copy bugged out. I would go crazy. It is a chopped up copy of the game though so I guess errors like that aren't entirely unexpected and I'm sure the full thing will be polished up. Even so, it's amazing they were so pleased with it especially considering the glitch and their past impressions of it.

These positive reviews have been quite reassuring for me. Not that I ever needed a reassurance in the first place >.>

Yeah, but I think he ment like: "it takes so long to load, that you can even start reading the resident evil history". Though I REALLY hope he ment what you sead, It would be bloody fantastic!

It sounds like that its gonna be like MGS 4 in that while it is loading you get a whole history of the game's world up to the point where the new game starts, so hopefully this will mean we get to see all the relevant information we need from the previous games shown to us while the fifth one loads.

Also, it's nice to hear that the demo does indeed not properly show how hard or how excellent the game mechanics are in 5, so hopefully even though it may not be a RE game in the classic sense, at least I will get a good action game with an excellent story to be told thrown into the bargain.

Actually the loading screens will feature the RE history. It was mentioned in one of the podcasts from here.

I wonder how this affects the PS3 version if it does indeed have shorter load times thanks to the install. For once I may want a longer load time.

Anyway, it's nice to see the full game swayed someone's previous negative opinion of the game. And hell, they only played a quarter of the full game.

I guess the loading screens will have scripted time. In the 360 version, if you install it, will be as quick as the PS3 version, but it's just speculation from my part...

*Scare Tactics: Initially I was disappointed to find that the game seems to lack any big scares. No dog-through-the window moments that so engrained the first title in my memories. But as I played the game I came to realize that those haunted house moments are cheap scares, instead Capcom is taking a more adult, more sophisticated approach to delivering thrills.*

Well that sound really disappointing not big scares moments let's hope as the game progresses it get's more scary moments or this will be RE4 all over again
