  • RE4 Wii and UC Sales Data Update

Capcom's third-quarter financial report indicates that Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition reached 1.5 million units sold worldwide, 100.000 additional units since Capcom's last report in September, while worldwide sales for Resident Evil:Umbrella Chronicles remained strangely unchanged at 1.15 million. Also, according to the latest NPD Group's report RE4 and UC sold respectively 759,000 and 398,800 units in the U.S.

Re4 : Wii sold 1.5 million Alone? that is really impressive, especially considering how massively ported it got.

what's the big shock? it's like you all thought RE4 was some tiny obscure little game or something.

not really, just shows there are a lot of shooter fans, how are you to know what is the best game to buy, if you have not played them all first?

it's just what you hear from other people, and most people are shooters fans, so hence RE4 Wii getting a lot of sales.

the classics style of gameplay is still a lot superior in my eyes.

oh and this chart needs to be updated now.

Well, it wasn't worth buying a Wii for. And I wouldn't pay retail for UC. And even some of the side stories make zero sense and can't be canon. But...wait, I can't think of a good point here. Curses.

I am a little surprised RE4 sold so well, what with being a couple of years old when it was released for the Wii and the fact you could play RE4 on it already. I guess there are enough fanatics out there who wanted to play through Seperate Ways in good graphical style.

            ...don't you judge me.

Hopefully, what Capcom gets out of this is that Wii owners want a real RE game and not another spin-off.

I thought I read that the Separate Ways graphics are the same on both Wii and PS2. I think they just ported the PS2 version of SW over to Wii, so they didn't have to rebuild the whole thing again.
I could be wrong but I'm sure someone pointed it out on this site before...

I think the high RE4 Wii sales are combination of the high number of Wiis out there, the reputation of the game, the low sales of the GC console (GC version missing SW) and the easier controls. The hype of RE5 would also be inspiring some people (who have never played RE4) to pick it up.

I don't think REUC is that awful of a game. It has some replay value.

Meh, it's all just personal opinion, but still - I don't think it is a "festering turd" like everyone makes it out to be.
