  • Project Umbrella Opens!

Today marks a new chapter for the online Resident Evil fanbase. Today, our friends at Project Umbrella have opened the website that they have toiled on for months. Comprised of various long-time community members, the sites goal is to provide the complete history of the Resident Evil series in such scrutinizing detail, even I was impressed. The site will launch with a Wiki style format, where non-staff can suggest edits to articles. Never before has a site gone so in depth into the lore of the Resident Evil series. I'll leave this post off with a quote from El Bastardo, one of the staff members at Project Umbrella.

With the launch of Project Umbrella, we're hoping to make a statement to the Resident Evil fan community at large. This site has been founded on something more than a love for the series we've all grown up with, it's been founded on an obsession. For too long fans have had to chase up hard-to-find sources to uncover facts about the franchise they otherwise wouldn't have known. Serious debates about the series have gone down the tubes and intellectual discussion has been stretched thin across countless fan sites, instead of maintained and upheld in one place. Project Umbrella is more than just your average site. We're founded on a philosophy of going further than ever before, unprecedented research, excruciating detail, giving RE fans, old and new, what they truly deserve.

    Wonderful work.
I look forward to this ever so, as my craving for Biohazard data is unquenched.
There are so many hard-to-obtain resources on the subject, and not everyone have been able to access them when made available. The effort gone into this project will help us expand the knowledge even more.

I signed up...it looks lovely. So far I've skimmed over a few of the articles and editorials...I can't wait to dig into them. The Dead Aim one especially. Congrats on the open, and great work to everyone involved.

New site huh? I hope they can offer video downloads of older RE games like intros and gameplay or even cutscenes. Kinda like RECenter. That is awesome for a site to have. If I would be able to create my own RE website I would have replayed every RE game and record intros, gameplay, and extras in high quality resolution that the systems can handle. Example: PS2 gameplay recorded at 640x480 and RE5 at 1080 or 720p. Hell ya!!!

I think I spoke too soon. The video downloads in HQ are cool but I want to have easy access to chose what video to watch. I have to keep clicking random to "shuffle" the videos.

Click on the title, 'Videos'. It's not too obvious, but we'll be changing that soon enough. Quite a few bugs that need sorting out, but we're working on them.
                  See you in hell.

Use the tag function when selecting videos. It's the best we can do right now until we come up with a better way to manage them. For now, they're seperated by game. Anytime you click on a video, there will be links underneath it with stuff like "Video" "Media" and then the game.

                    Hope that helped.

If anyone has any further queries regarding PU, I'd advise you all to head on over to the PU forums and make a topic about it in the Customer Support board. Much easier for us to handle it that way.

Reading the article on Dead Aim brings to mind something I've always wondered about Morpheus' plan: wouldn't the missiles destroy the T-Virus when they exploded?

                        EDIT:

Guess I should have waited until I finished reading the article before mentioning that, ha.
