^They would have to drastically alter everything in RE2 to even make it fit the mold for a RE4/5 type of game. They already have a winning formula for a remake with the template used on RE1.

But according to everyone, reviewers, gamers, even many fans today - times have changed since Resident Evil 4 to make Resident Evil 5 seem archaic in design, yet even longer time has passed since the remake.

Given today's rather hopeless state of affair within gaming do you really see a game with fixed camera angles and total tank controls succeeding? I'd love it myself - because I consider the remake a masterpiece. But for the average joe-gamer today? I just can't see it working.

I think there's a huge market out there to buy up RE-related merch. Look at REUC; it sold over a million copies and it was an on-rails shooter. As for RE2, there were millions of people that snatched up the PS1 iteration, not to mention however many bought the gamecube reissue. Surely nostalgia will get the best of all of them...and besides, if RE2make was made for the Wii, it'd be an instant seller since most of the titles that come out for that system are shovelware. Think about it...you're a Wii owner...you want a new game...you have to choose between "RE2make" or "Babyz DayCare Playtime Funfest." Which would the average person choose?

The average Wii owner? Probably Babyz.

^Yeah, I thought that immediately after typing that statement. Everytime I turn around my Aunt is buying my cousin all the crap games and crap controller attachments that she sees at Wal-Mart. What a waste of money...

...I should start inventing my own Wii attachments...even in this horrible economy the garbage sells! (Maybe I could invent a controller and game to simulate the fun of the "Slow Jerk?")

My question is that the Remake was made in a time before RE4... if they do remake RE2, will it be like the Remake of RE1 or will they try to make it like RE4/5?

I'd rather they made an entirely new game for the Wii using the RE4 template. RE4: Wii Edition was too good not to have another RE like it on the Wii. I wouldn't really want them to remake RE2 with RE4's gameplay, but I also don't want another rail shooter. Just add some updates to the gameplay like the realtime weapon switching in Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. I'd like them to use RE4's inventory system again, personally. It's one of the things I miss most in RE5, but I understand why they needed to have a realtime inventory since it's a co-op game.

Frankly speaking, I wouldn't mind a sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles. But they will have to include RE2, RE:CV, RE4 and RE degeneration here, and include sidestories of RE5 as unlockables.

A RE2make will be good too, as they can use it to explore and answer more stuffs. Things like
                    - giving more backgrounds to the Raccoon City
                    - the mystery broken cyrotube in the fingerprint room in the lab area
                    - some references to the Outbreak series
                    - new (old) monsters like Hunter Alpha, or even a fight with a grave digger.
                    - cameo or even interaction with some UBCS members

The only way it would really be worthwhile is if they reconstructed it to be like REbirth. Graphical update, a few more areas and enemies, but it has to be old controls. Any other way and it would bastardize the game beyond the point of no return.

look, i would want RE2 remake to be like RE5. i think if they also added gun firing and walking many people would buy it. look, a game fixed camera angles will not succeed everyone wants a new way of playing. this game should be for xbox 360, ps3 and maybe wii

If they remake 2 then they really need to not fuck it up. If they use four's control scheme in a remake then they need to remember that huge numbers of zombie and lickers, linear paths and no puzzles will not sit well. They need to include the stuff from the origional game and not just make it a shooty action game or I will weep, like a beaten child.

The only thing I would like to see added? Trips to 1.5 areas to both extend the gameplay and, well, 1.5 areas. It would be awesome in my opinion. And maybe some additional stuff throughout the streets.

But they really need to avoid making this all action, all the time. Resi 2 had some pacing and, you know, shooting an a bunch of enemies in the face in every room will ruin that.

^ Actually that should have been my statement before my question... but I know Capcom too well to expect thats going to happen.

Personally in answering my own question now I've had a bit of time to digest this... being Capcom, they'll do what they think will make money... which means they'll ignore that the REmake did very well for what it was, and instead look at the bigger butt load of cash made by RE4 - and probably RE5.... and the RE2make will be probably be like those games instead. I think making it like RE4 and 5 will alienate the far larger older fan base who love RE2 and don't dig the newer games. But that said most of those people, including me personally, I don't want to see anymore remakes...

But a remake is likely to happen eventually no matter what anyone says.

Knowing Capcom doesn't care about this fact... should they do this then my thoughts are I'd rather see a remake akin to the REmake on Gamecube that plays that way BUT I wont mind if it's in a style like Outbreak or Code Veronica instead of fixed cameras (although I'd be fine with those still anyway).

Probably going to shoot my mouth off here... but whats with this stupidly high level of remake everything in media of recent years. Movies and games particularly are struggling with a glut of people remaking stuff, especially things only around 10 years old. I understand maybe 40, 50, 60 years... but 10-20 is not much at all. Is the ADD generation unstable enough not to handle older items and instead needs everything to be constantly modern and "new"? Most of the time you just end up ruining what was originally good about the item to begin with.
