do you realize that Sheva isnt the only black character in the game to give support to chris...I hope people realize this...im not seeing Chris shooting Sheva or the other BSAA member who is African...In fact the trailer when he walks through town, he isnt attacking anybody or making any jestures, facial expressions or any remarkes to anyone...So Honestly...the second some one says this is racist...is setting a double standard that its ok to kill every other race except black people, well in fact its not ok to kill any race of course...but this is a FREAKING GAME, not a real life racial issue that is held over our heads from past history...My good friends who are black don't see this game as racist...so I truely don't get it, I have never made any comments on how the enemies are not of the white ethincticity and hoesntly if you see the enemies they spawn randomly. Im done...I don't think my point matters anyways...

I truly believe, no matter how many times Capcom says RE5 was co-op to begin with, that Sheva was added in pretty far into development, and one of the reasons she was added in was to answer the racism calls. The idea is, it's okay to shoot black people if another black person is shooting them with you.
They can't make an addition like that so far into development. The entire game is built around Sheva, and the story was written specifically with Sheva in mind, there is absolutely no way they just added her in there suddenly.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Where is there any proof of Sheva's inclusion before May 2008? The fact is, sometimes games change when far into development...for different reasons. For example, MGS2's E3 2000 trailer showed Solid Snake fighting Metal Gear RAY on the Oil Tanker. Then, they had a mass reboot. Raiden and the Big Plant chapter were added in.
Capcom can say all they want that the game was originally built around co-op, but I have my doubts.
And like I said, I wasn't presenting my idea as fact, so I'm not "wrong" or right. I'm just saying that it's possible.Last edited by Vector; 03-03-2009, 03:11 AM.

There's no ridiculous conspiracy about it. There doesn't need to be "proof" of any sort. Hell, asking for "proof" is just stupid.Last edited by News Bot; 03-03-2009, 03:18 AM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

CR29, Raiden wasn't included in MGS2 at the last minute. Hideo Kojima didn't want to upset the fans by saying to them that the main character of the game isn't snake, so everyone learned about this new character when they first played the game. I remember that even Raiden's voice actor was not allowed to talk about his role to maintain complete security.sigpic

Okay, so then why keep Sheva's inclusion as a secret for so long? That's what I don't understand.
I mean, would you spill just about everything on your game?
Still, I just...I have my doubts. And to be honest, I don't blame them for adding in lots of white people to a small African village(even though it really doesn't make too much sense) and possibly adding in an African partner to answer the racism accusations...I just wonder.

I don't consider it a 'big secret' if it's unveiled almost a year before the game is released, to be honest.
Okay...here's what I'm trying to say. We're obviously getting nowhere, and we're obviously never gonna know the truth. BUT...with circumstances like this, with such an uproar that was caused over a white man shooting a bunch of black people(which I don't agree with, obviously), with a year between glimpses of the game, I'm just saying...can't it be POSSIBLE that Sheva was part of their answer?
In that June trailer...we see Chris running in the 'tomb' area, and we see Majini pushing pillars over and Chris running, by himself. Later, we see Sheva make her brief appearance at the end of the trailer. Isn't it possible that Chris was originally alone, by himself in this game...no co-op...and they used the old footage of Chris running by himself, before unveiling Sheva at the end of the trailer?Last edited by Vector; 03-03-2009, 03:45 AM.

Your logic here makes no sense.
Racism had no effect on RE5's development. That we can say for absolute certain.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

No, this isn't the end of the discussion just because you say so. Instead of shutting the idea out completely, answer my question when I ask if it was POSSIBLE? What the hell is so wrong with speculation?

Honestly? Who gives a shit if Capcom, a Japanese company, worked out part way into development some overly sensitive Western people could take certain scenes as racist and changed it or planned them that way from the beggining? The racism, if it ever existed, is gone from the version we'll play. It makes no great difference to us. Except as pure amusement.
'Japanese people make white folks look better than coloured folks who aren't Japanese!'
If one of these magazines puts out a magazine showing a huge group of naked black guys with might shclongs dragging away a young woman, and then we see one of a white guy doing the same then we shall see. Otherwise...at worst, Capcom realized they were messing up. At best magazines were lying to get hits.
