  • Yet Another Takeuchi Interview + Aussie Release Date Pushed Up

IGN have put up a new interview with Jun Takeuchi. He says that Resident Evil 5 was meant to be extension to RE4 like RE2 was to RE1 and not a total overhaul.

"What we wanted to do was to move Resident Evil 5 on from Resident Evil 4 in the same way that Resident Evil 2 moved the series on from Resident Evil 1."
IGN Jun Takeuchi Interview thanks to ChrisRedfield29.

Also, the Australian release date for Resident Evil 5 has been pushed up to the 12th of March 2009.

Aussie release date was reported AGES ago.

Takeuchi's comments are pretty much in line with my expectations for RE5 too =P

I Disagree. Tak's statement is correct on how he is comparing it to the previous pre games. Resident Evil 5 is a whole different setting than 4 (where 3 and 2 was set in Raccoon City) and the game is more mechanical, like 2 was when it comes to 1, and the added main arc story, extras, characters, etc, his statement is correct. Get over it. Hell, even watch the interview and he will explain why on the comparison.

                  NO it isn't.

RE5 is set in a different place, but using similar environments (bigger) (Village, Caves, ruins) with something else added or removed(ex castle or savana). Then, Re2 takes place inside the RPD Station and Umbrella 's labs, while RE3 take place in RC streets, parks and factories or hospital. The only place they have in common is RPD station (it's a 30 minutes long experience in RE3). RE3 il less claustrofobic than Re2.

Re3 has a complete new story compared to Re2, exactly like RE5 has a different story compared with RE4, and both have a complete new cast and new enemies.

Re3 has some gamplay improvements (you can climb stairs without pushing X, you can dodge zombies, etc...).

RE5 feels really like RE4 with improvements... while RE2 is a different game from Re2.
