  • Resident Evil 5 News Roundup

Continuing the Resident Evil 5 release week, several gaming websites are discussing Resident Evil 5 in-depth on their weekly podcasts. Here's a few notable one's.

Listen Up / Rebel FM / Out of the Game

Also, IGN have put up a new "Stars" article featuring Sheva. They basically butcher the character and call her a poor replacement for Jill Valentine.

    IGN Stars : Sheva Alomar

And IGN's reputation takes another battering. Seriously, they PAY people to come up with this shit?

Gee IGN, what were you expecting? Shakespeare? It's a Resident Evil game, of course there is going to be questionable dialogue and silly one liners at hilariously inappropriate times. It wouldn't matter if it was Sheva, Jill or fucking Phil Mitchell saying those lines, they would still be there and you would still have to listen to them. You have to take it at face value and lose yourself within the game's universe, not sit there nitpicking at the smallest inadequacy in voice acting. That's a sure as hell way to not only break immersion, but also to impose a bad time upon yourself.

I love Sheva. It's obvious she wasn't meant to be a substitute for Jill because Jill was important to the story in other ways. Of course her dialog is iffy because everyone's dialog was iffy in RE5 because it's fucking Resident Evil. IGN claims to not care about Sheva by the game's end but to be fair, we learn and connect more with Sheva than with the protagonists of the first Resident Evil game. Sheva actually receives impressive attention by Capcom considering she's only in one title so far.

I can believe this IGN article... It looks like an internet troll wrote this or something...
My first impression when I know about sheva appearing in the game was not very good but after beating the game I can say I really like her as a RE character like carlos, billy, or barry. there's nothing wrong with her...

IGN says: "Her gun is clearly cooler than she is."
very bad joke... morons, she has the most sexiest bum in the whole RE series, she's so cute and I love her eyes!

Really? You sure it wasn't that really messed up thing that just happened?
Uh... pretty sure that part wasn't a boss fight. IGN really needs to stop posting all of these horrible opinion based articles, but maybe they're really hurting for hits or something.

WAH!!!! theres a new heroine thats not jill or claire!!! HATES ON ER!!!!!!!!!

shut up IGN, the minute you guys got rid of EGM was the minute i lost all respect. i paid for a full year and barely got that, and no refund for the rest of the year.

I like sheva, she's a breath of fresh air in all these REs with forgetable and annoying characters. she's also not like ashley with me saving her ass most of the time and not like steve acting all emo. she's a good solid character and i hope she'll be in future games

While I'd also rather see Jill & Chris as partners in an RE game, there is nothing wrong with Sheva. She's far more developed and interesting than other characters like Billy, Carlos, Steve, or Luis.

And besides, Chris would logically need a local guide to direct him through a hostile foreign land.

I mean, not everyone is capable of entering an unknown locale, and not being deterred by unfamiliarity or an incomprehensible foreign language. And then proceeding to lay waste to the entire nation of Spain while not breaking a sweat or getting lost once.

IGN is a fucking piece of shit website, it is official.

I would take C-3P0's ceaseless yammering over Sheva's uninformed dribble any day. Not to mention, the story gives us very little reason to care about her, her character is as underdeveloped and shallow as the most recent season of Heroes.

Did they read the files? UNDERDEVELOPED? Are they fucking retarded? Sheva has more backstory than MOST of the characters in Resident Evil history. She's extremely likable and she has a personal fucking reason to be in the BSAA, much like Chris and Jill. As for her in-game dialogue, what the fuck were they expecting? Honestly. What is she supposed to say?

Any shred of credibility IGN had has now disappeared.

EDIT: Actually, this young man who contributed to the comments section of the article summed it up nicely:

sheva is a bad ass character man,
these ign ppl are jus sayin shyt kuz maybe shes black
                          thats fukd up...

IGN really are trying their best to drive RE5 into the ground, aren't they? Considering how silly certain games plots they've reviewed before getting 10/10s this generation I find it ironic that RE5 is getting this sort of treatment on an unprecedented scale.
