I don't believe it will take that long. =] I mean, RE5 has only just been released, so it's easy for them to say that now, but I'm sure when they actually decide what they want to do in the next game, it will be on it's way and come out in maybe 5 years at the most.

But there's one thing I do know RE5 has been announced inmediately after RE4 and we've basically got a RE4 HD AFTER 4 DAMN YEARS which I think it was too much. So RE6 won't be RE5 based in terms of gameplay, that's why they claim to be 8 years long.

8 years are quite a window frame to see the launch of better fresh new survival and even action horror games series instead of RE.

It's only when Capcom franchises start really being oversaturated and the sales are dwindling horribly that Capcom gives them some breathing space for a few years before releasing an entirely new game in the franchise (see Street Fighter or Mega Man as examples). That said, if Darkside really horribly bombs as people are expecting then it maybe the last spin-off/remake we see for quite some time...

I don't know, UC sold rather well. Over a million copies or so.

"Bombs" as in storywise, or "bombs" as in amount of copies sold?

Because despite the majority of people here that bash REUC, there seems to be an absurd number of people who have voiced their excitement for REDSC (to avoid confusion with REDC ). Which is confusing to me.

Anyway, I think Darkside Chronicles (what a fucking stupid name) will sell, just because it is a Wii title, and I expect it to prominently feature Leon to capitalize on his questionable popularity and the sells of RE4. REUC pushed 1,000,000+ copies. RE is popular, and the Wii has so few decent games.

Storywise...I expect more retcons, and perhaps another implemented boss ala Sergei. Though I'd be stoked if they somehow managed to weave Nicholai into the fold.

It whould not suprise me if Capcom wait till 2016 to relase RE6 it will be 20 years by than seince the series began I think that's going too happen I hop not I caint wait any longer than 5 years over that I think I'll lose it.

I spent $890 all up on everything I bought RE5 related. That's not counting the Red Elite console that I am slowly paying off.

I bought every edition from every region.

You should have spent that money feeding a whole bunch of people instead.

I highly doubt RE6 will take eight years to be completed, thats almost a decade....and it would be pretty wasteful if Capcom was to make RE6 on future consoles, knowing that the current gen is still new and still has a lot to offer.

And does anyone think it's a bit early for another reboot? We just had one 4 years ago. I'm curious to know what else they could possibly do. I think the best possible thing they can do is to just drop the whole ganado/majini thing. They could keep the current engine but bring back the zombies or some kind of zombie hybrid...that was Capcom's original plan with RE5 anyways.

Jill's Boob - I agreed with Dot at the time on the Podcast and I do so now. Considering the majority of people who've in retrospect disliked Umbrella Chronicles but purched it a lot on the strength of the licence on the Wii after RE4 Wii Edition... then combine it with the people who will buy the REmake and Zero Wii editions and get burnt, they'll probably think twice about buying Darkside.

Obviously RE6 won't be coming until the next batch of next-gen consoles, but that is a really long time from now. They can still do one more RE game on this current-gen consoles. That just tells you that Capcom wants the next leap in graphics and power for their next RE game, but isn't that getting a little carried away? They are basically limiting the main series to one game per console generation. This current-gen of consoles is probably going to be around for at least 3-5 more years. That is plenty of time and power to cram out one more RE title for this current generation.

Also, considering how RE5 basically concluded a story that has been going on since the first game, instead of RE6, why not just end the series at 5?

On the plus side, since they seem to be choosing to wait until the next batch of consoles, this means we could get a lot more Resident Evil side games.

But I have a feeling that there will be more than the Darkside Chronicles coming to the Wii, since the Wii is easier and faster to develop for.

They still haven't made a PSP RE game yet, but considering how poorly the PSP is doing, is it even worth developing for?
