  • Resident Evil Comic Interview

The Capcom Unity blog has a new interview with Ricardo Sanchez, the writer of the new Resident Evil comic. The comic will feature a new cast of characters and will not, as previously stated, be an actual prequel to Resident Evil 5. It will instead focus on the exploits of two new characters, BSAA agents Holiday Sugarman and Mina Gere.

The first comic, which releases in May, will be about BSAA rookie Mina Gere's examination of a supposed biohazard on a space station(???).

It's quite an insightful and interesting interview, read it here.

Special thanks to -Evil Shady- for the tip!

The series introduces two new characters, BSAA Special Operation Agents Holiday Sugarman and Mina Gere. While you won't see Chris Redfield or any of the other RE characters, the BSAA agents will encounter a variety of T-Virus and G-Virus infected monsters, some with new twists, that are part of the Resident Evil universe.
Why not go the whole hog and just call him Tenerife Demerara? Actually, that's my idea for a fanfic. I'll have some story about two insignificant and ultimately irrelevant BSAA members, Tenerife Demerara and Ecuador Molasses who find themselves up against Nazi zombies being controlled by a revived Adolf Hitler who has been brought back to life by a telepathic G-virus, which he uses to control the aforementioned Nazi zombies. The man behind the project is Josef Mengele, who has seized a NASA-owned space station to use as a base of operations.

The rest will play out like Moonraker with Michael Lonsdale portraying the role of Mengele

The first new character, Mina Gere, is a rookie member of the BSAA, just appointed a Special Operations Agent. She's exceptionally well trained, but no field experience. She's sent up to a Space Station to investigate a whistle blower's report that someone aboard is conducting bio-weapon research.
    Yep, Michael Lonsdale.

That's actually a really hard question to answer. There are a lot. But overall, I'd have to say playing through Resident Evil 1 on my PlayStation, in general, had my favorite moments. There were a lot of times where a cerberus would jump through the window or some other nasty would surprise me where it genuinely made me jump.
I like how almost everyone says that, it's almost as though people who haven't played RE are giving a book of guidelines on how to answer certain questions in interviews pertaining to RE. You can imagine this being an example:

"Shit, he's asking me what my favourite part was...er..."

    *flicks through guidebook*

"Oh yeah, I liked the bit where the, er, the dog things come through the window. In that hall part, yeah."

I know right? I read that part and immediately thought he was just going off what he had heard about the game from others or videos off youtube. Its kind of sad actually.

The whole story for this comic sounds retarded even if the games are sci-fi based. A space station.....seriously? This isn't Dead Space.....and the character names a laughably bad.

        When he said,

The new comic book is roughly contemporaneous with RE5, but I'd say occurs just prior to the events of the game, if only because no reference is made to those events. The comic was initially planned as a prequel to the game, but as we developed the story, the comic evolved into a new set of characters that would exist within the Resident Evil universe.
I knew that he basically meant: "We thought about doing a comic that would relate in with the storyline of the game..........but then thought that wouldn't be awesome enough! So we decided to add a space station, a fictional European country, someplace we won't name in South America, and guy with the name Holiday Sugarman!"

        Its all just so terrible.

I wonder why it says the comic is released in May when I've had it since before the game was released ? Believe me, their not joking about the space station lol.

So much for coming out then, when it already came out now.
