  • Resident Evil 5 1.02 Patch Online

A new patch for the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5 has just went online. This one is 36 MB and it updates the game to 1.02. There aren't any immediate changes to the game, but folks have reported new trophies under the "Trophy Collection" after applying the patch. This is most likely to prep for the forth coming Versus Mode DLC.

No similar patch has been reported for the 360 version yet.

Resident Evil 5 Patch thanks to Rombie and Umon Daisuke

I'm gonna be really, really pissed if I get my PS3 back next week and I can't get the platinum trophy. I was ONE trophy away from it when my PS3 got the YLOD...and if this patch now makes you have to get the DLC trophies to unlock the platinum, I'm gonna be pretty freakin' upset. This is all assuming my hard drive is still intact whenever I get my console back.

I know what you mean! I was 2 trophies away in getting the platinum trophy but I somehow believe that the new trophies were sort of included , because I have 71 % of the total trophies and after the update everything seems the same, with the exception that I can see the new trophies. I can also select them and see what you have to do to get them. Now the DLC will take ages to come out ... I really want a platinum trophy.

You guys are fine, you can still get the platinum trophy without the DLC trophies. Dot50 did it today after the update.

Yea I had to download this last night, thankfully it didn't take as long as the first one when I got the game.

Apparently this is indeed the Versus DLC. What you actually buy is a key that activates the mode.

Yup. The patch certainly adds most of the Versus Mode data (if not all).
This is something of a loophole more and more developers/publishers are likely to use for popular games with DLC in the future on the PS3 (patching the DLC into the main game and then just use an unlock key to activate it).

The reason for them to do this is probably this dirty little secret that finally got public attention ;)

So they've not disabled V-lock to bring the framerate up to the 360 either *sigh*.
