I would take this news with a grain of salt.
Shortly after the original Dead Rising weas announced, the developers claimed there would be hundreds, if not thousands of zombies on-screen at once. Well, Dead Rising has been out a long while now, and I surely don't remember a single place in the game where there were literally hundreds of zombies...I'm a blackstar.

I somehow doubt that this will be a polished effort like the original. Working on 3 versions for such a small developer is always tough.

MULTIPLAYER OMFG!!!
I love Dead Rising... but now I'll enjoy it with friends. Priceless.
6000 zombies? Hope that's achievable; I loved going thru hordes of undead with a chainsaw / katana.

the tunnels at the end had 'em, hundreds of 'em. Atleast that's how I remember it.
It will be interesting to see how this turns out.I'm a blackstar.

Yeah. The tunnels at the end of Dead Rising pulled some massive on-screen counts for the zombies, but I think you actually get more zombies on-screen in the service tunnel/garage thingy underneath the mall. (wouldn't be surprised if you reach near-200-ish at times there)
And, as for pulling off 6000... I'd say it's probably entirely possible. There's a PS2 game that bragged about pulling "thousands of enemies" called "Demon Chaos (EU) / Ikusagami (JP)". Here's a gameplay video on YouTube. Uses some filthy tricks to keep track of the masses, but still... pretty impressive.
