  • Silent Hill : Shattered Memories Preview, More Pictures

IGN have put up a new eyes on preview from the Wii version of Silent Hill : Shattered Memories. The preview is incredibly positive and details the new features in the game, which include creative usage of the cell phone by which taking pictures of certain locations will show you hidden images and trigger additional story bits and inventive usage of the torch. One interesting point is that they claim the game will change on the fly based on your decisions, including characters and story events.

The preview also includes some in-game images as well. The entire preview and the rest of the images can be seen at the link below.

IGN have also put up a massive 5 page interview to go along with the new preview. They interview the lead designer Sam Barlow, director Mark Simmons and Konami producer Tomm Hulett. They talk about several things, including whether this game should be labeled as a remake or not and several other aspects. The entire interview can be read at the link.

Whoa, Cybil has developed the most terrifying rack ever. Those things are about to leap out and assault poor geek Harry, who in this version looks like he was never married and adopted Cheryl because sex was beyond him forever.

Still, the more I hear the more intruiged I am. I wasn't massively impressed with Siren: New Blood because it was simply a dumbed down version of Forbbiden Siren with great graphics. This looks a lot more interesting. I'm still sad it's outside of the established canon...this really does look interesting enough to b e part of the series true. But hell, maybe we'll get a second Silent Hillverse.

I like that this seems much more hardcore horror tha survival horror. It's pretty much the exact opposite of how RE has gone, and I think this will be a good thing. But let's wait and see...

the branching story and gameplay mechanic is what intrigues me the most, the way the author words it in the preview, it comes off as a great feature which would warrant multiple play through's just to see the entire game.

The main preview article seems to pretty much cover the same stuff as the Nintendo Power preview did.

Nice to see some more pictures, though.

They gave off some examples of how they are planning to use the Wiimote control scheme. Sounds very interesting. If and when Ju-On (announced yesterday) and Fatal Frame 4 received announcement of a localization, I don't see how any horror fans will not own a Wii, especially when The Calling was leaked for the Wii and both Cursed Mountain, Obscure already available, not to mention Wii's BC for play with the RE series and Eternal Darkness.

Those graphics look pretty good for a Wii game. Almost too good...

No, Wii is the lead platform, but the game was announced also on PSP and PS2.

Looks like a decent game. I've never played a SH game (saw the crappy feature film though) but might give this a spin. The transition of the RE games from horror to somewhat horror to full blown action have left me jonesing for a frightening experience. Maybe this can provide it?

Dude...I've seen other posts where you talk about playing Pokemon games. And you're trying to say RE5 is a regrettable purchase? Give me a break.

Yes. Ju-On (The Grudge for the English remakes) for the Wii was supposed to be announce through Famitsu magazine which is released in Japan today, but the magazine content was leaked on the internet 2 days ago. Since the magazine has been released, Famitsu have put up the screenshots online and the official site for Ju-On has been opened.
