Never thought of that. It could be, but seems unlikely.

What i like, is the grief people give Leon for "Ooooh he dodged a few lasers" whilst Chris gets next to no abuse for beating up a giant stone. Both are as bad as eachother.

Evidently there is, or you'd be connecting.

In fairness, DC having online co-op is hardly the same as RE5 having co-op. They're two entirely different games, and DC won't have half as many hinderances to your game playing solo than it did in RE5.

If the scenario occurs during Code: Veronica, it won't be showing how Krauser disappeared from the helicopter crash (that is, if Krauser is suppose to appear in the first place), as that helicopter crash incident occurs 2 years before RE4. I just hope the new scenario will tie in Krauser, Ada AND RE: Degeneration together.

There's a poll on GameFAQs showing that Leon is the most popular character. While it should not be view as a 100% representative on the fanbase, it still serves enough as a general look. I suppose starring in 2 of the most selling RE titles (RE2 & RE4) as well as in the best RE movie helps with Leon's popularity.

Yes, but beating up a boulder = manly and heroic. It helps me look past the ridiculousness of it.

Chris was going to do whatever it took to defeat Wesker. Whether it be punching boulders or jumping on his back as Uroboros leeches began to suck the life from him, nothing was going to stop Chris. He'd waited ten years for that battle for Wesker. To compare this to either of the laser room scenes(in RE4 and UC) is really not fair.

Every time I see him punch the boulder, I chalk it up to adrenaline and sheer manliness.

Leon's dodging lasers is pretty possible, just improbable.
Can't say the same for the boulder.

Leon S. Kennedy is a Mary Sue, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Yet people still like him, like people still like Alice.
You mean Gary Stu and Leon is one. But not to the degree of Roid Redfield.

Chris punched the boulder out of anger. The punching itself didn't move it at all. It was him pushing with his fists at the end that caused it to move. It's not impossible. Dodging high speed lasers on the other hand, is very impossible. Especially in RE4. What does he do? Run up the wall, backflip and glide through the lasers? Give me a break.

And no, Chris isn't a Mary Sue character after RE5. In UC, he most certainly was. But RE5 gave him some characterisation for once, showing his more vulnerable side despite his obvious attempts to improve and match up to the shit he's facing.

If it weren't for the worthless laser scene in UC, I'd say Leon was the most ridiculous character. But I hold Leon, Jill and Chris on equal ridiculousness levels now because of their ridiculous laser dodging.

It's not impossible whatsoever. You just have to time it right and factor in several things like knowing where every single part of your body is and holding htem at the right angle at the right time. It would require extensive training and foreknowledge of the lasers' position of course but it's not impossible.

And if showing your vulnerable side makes you not a Gary Stu, then neither is Leon.

He didn't push it with his fists at the end. He punched it.

You can very clearly see he punches it at the end. It even makes the punching sound.

And the laser dodging scene isn't impossible, just highly improbable. Everything Leon did was physically possible, particularly for anyone who has had any sort of martial arts training. The back flip, the bounding off the wall into a back flip, it's all do-able. It was the presence of the lasers that made the situation improbable.

Was it ridiculous? Yes. But impossible? No.

And it could even be chalked up to pure luck. Heck, Ada even says that Leon survives most of the situations he's in because of luck and not skill.

Here's the laser scene for reference:

The only part that's a big stretch is when he does the first back flip, and that's because his body manages to be in the perfect orientation while he's back flipping so as not to touch the lasers.

The second backflip after he bounds up the wall is over the lasers, not through them, and, as I said, it's something many martial artists are able to do.

seems like he pretty much punched the shit out of the boulder, including a massive double fist at the end that got it rolling down the slope.

Are you for real? You honestly think there's a person alive on the planet that could punch a solid boulder of that size and move it?

I'm all for the suspension of disbelief, but come on!
