Comic Books centric website Comic Book Resources recently had the oppotunity to interview Capcom's Chris Kramer. The interview mostly talks about the development cycle of Resident Evil 5, and it's involvement with the central Resident Evil Timeline. He also talks a little bit about the prequel comic series.

The series expands on the Resident Evil mythology, and introduces new places and new faces, with a particular focus on expanding the BSAA. We think the miniseries will be a must-read for fans of Resident Evil that want to go beyond the game and understand all the dark mysteries that the series has to offer. You should check it out!

I believe he said the Tyrant.

But yeah, I wouldn't bother listening to Kramer's view on the series storyline. This series of comics was already confirmed by the head storywriter of them that they weren't related to the series generally. They're pretty much the comic book equivalent of the movies.
