Capcom didn't "Screw up the RE Timeline" with UC. It was meant to just be an arcade style game, and the only parts that were actually made canon were the single-player stages (the Wesker ones) and the stuff that takes place in 2003.

There's also the "ITS WESKER'S RECOLLECTION" argument too, but this works just as well.

A remake of 2 with 4 engine would not work, particularly because the main areas in 2 are pretty small. RE4's style will only work good when the character is in a spacious areas.

Call me crazy but I think its good that Ada and Sherry are added in. Its probably the only chance we'll see the interaction between Ada and Claire, and leon/Sherry. Heck, the idea of whether Ada is tagging along because she's plotting to get the G-virus from Sherry's pendant, and whether she'll succeed in this revision is already an interesting question mark for me.

Come on now, you guys know you are gonna complain anyway if Ada and Sherry didn't gets included in, like the complain lack of Barry in Chris/Jill pairup in UC's mansion incident.

They're just catering to the widest audience, and so they're gonna have to compact/change the plot to fit a fast paced shooter like this. At the same time, they're basing it off of the older games to appease fans. It's meant to have you go "OH YEAAAAH... this reminds me of [insert scene from RE 2/ CV], neat" , it's not meant to make you go "BAWWWW THIS SCREWS UP THE CANON". Just relax and realize that it's not trying to rewrite the story of the older games.

Got a point i really shouldn't like shove it because i've only seen screenshots and not real in game scenario footage, the more i think about it all 4 together sounds interesting i think its because i miss barry the man needs his own game apart from gaiden if capcom could do one thing now is announce a old skool resi, with zombies with smashing windows and freaks of nature and been isolated brings back memories xD

but that only happens in Claire B, and the canon sort of leans more towards Claire A leon B.

If all the characters will be together at the same time, looks to me like they're going to retcon the whole event with Sherry being impregnated by William. (and thus any importance she had after RE2).

Honestly, in my own opinion, I think this is kinda neat. Like James said, you already know that RE2 is canon. This looks like it'll be interesting to see all 4 characters interacting with each other, we never got that in 2, and for me anyway, I think it'd be cool to see Ada interacting with Claire or Leon interacting with Sherry, adds a new twist to the whole thing. Can't wait for Captivate 09 to hear more about this and those screens, although they're a little blurry, are awesome.

Part of me says "And so what? they get rid of Barry and this whole 'Wesker was threatening me so I had to cooperate with him' part of his story from UC, so it's obvious they will simplify RE2 story too"; but then I really hope DSC resolve this whole Sherry part of the story so we could move on and never mention her again ("Hey look! In RE6 there's a blonde teenage girl - it must be Sherry, right? Right?!").

Last time I checked, RE5 confirmed they explored the mansion separately.

What really matters is how it begins and how it ends.

Even if it ends and begins the same way, changing up the middle changes up some of the subplots. I'm not sure how a Leon-Ada relationship would develop with Claire there, and Claire's role of being a parent to Sherry has less impact when Leon and Ada are also there taking care of her.

Relatively minor changes, like Marvin being in a different location or whatever, I don't mind. But what pissed me off about REUC was the whole "yeah, what you're seeing isn't actually what happens. Read the files." aspect pissed me off.

As a side note, the whole "OMG ADA'S A SPY? " thing doesn't quite work when she's covered in gear. I hope that's a placeholder (but given REUC and RE5, my expectations are down).

The only thing I really have a problem with is Ada's reused Separate Ways model. As Mr. Zombie said, it would have been a lot better with her looking like she did in RE2. Other than that, I don't own a Wii, so my experience of the game will most likely be on youtube.
