The Darkside Chronicles "Talking Evil" Blog - "The Leon of 1998"

The RE: The Darkside Chronicles site has once again been updated with a new entry titled "The Leon of 1998". It is confirmed from the entry that Paul Mercier will be the VA for Leon in the game, and that he will have a "little girl trouble in this game as well", since he'll be escaping Raccoon City with Sherry, Ada and Claire.

Ffffffffffffffffff. I can't wait for this. After the last entry they sort of spoke about more, but in the way I was hoping they would. In the "knowing what Leon is going to turn into later" thing being kept in mind, but hopefully not changing his character then from what it was.

Also why the wink emoticon with the girls part? Now my mind is in the gutter.

No, not really. It isn't meant to be considered canon (with the possible exception of that "Leon in South America" stuff we'd heard about...if that's legitimate, that is).

I dunno, I'm not liking the total focus on Leon suddenly (well, blog-wise). Yeah, yeah, RE 4 made him arguably the most recognizable character for the newer fanbase (and more casual audiences), but I would have liked them to focus on CLAIRE for the second one. Hell, I know that's nitpicking but still, it would have been really nice to essentially alternate between the two, and then maybe do one covering Sherry, Ada, and any other characters we might be seeing.

Oh well, nothing I can do about it. Next one will probably focus on Claire anyways.

I dunno, I'm not liking the total focus on Leon suddenly (well, blog-wise).

We have a long way to go until the actual release of the game, I'm sure the entire blog isn't going to surround Leon they'll probably switch off to the other character ... maybe like, 3 on Leon, 3 on Claire, 3 on Ada etc etc.

It's going to stay that way, I bet, with Leon seeing Claire as more or less a partner (kinda like in 2..and I'm glad Degen didn't try to add any "OMG THEY'RE A COUPLE" scenes). Oh, and speaking of Leon/Ada content, I'm hoping Mercier can pull off an awesome "AYYY-DAAAAAAAAAAH" scream like Haddad did in 2. If he does, I'll forgive him for his performance in Degeneration.

Yeah me too. I get the feeling that again they are trying to sideline Claire into being nothing but a side character, this game better not be just about Leon.

And he wisely suggested that we write Leon with a focus on realism.

Still, I'm not too worried about Leon being the main focus, not yet at least. They're focusing on him for now because so many fans know him more than Claire, plus of course they got some fairly negative feedback on his character after RE2, so I guess they're trying to assure us that they aren't planning to make his RE2 incarnation the same as his, well, less well recieved RE4 and RE Degen versions.
