  • Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Famitsu Scans + Even More Gameplay Footage

Our friends over at Biohaze have posted scans of a two-page article from the latest issue of Famitsu detailing the CODE: Veronica scenario of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. It contains several new screenshots, as well as fresh looks at several classic enemies from CODE: Veronica, including Alfred, Alexia, and "Alfrexia."

    Many thanks to Biohaze.

Gametrailers has posted some new off-screen gameplay footage from the E3 demo, this time showing off the RE2 scenario.

Not to be outdone, Gamespot has not only posted its own footage from the E3 demo, but also an exclusive 17-minute long stage demonstration showing off the title.

"The two main characters in Code: Veronica, in the first part, are Claire Redfield and Steve Burnside."

    CHRIS CONFIRMED.

EDIT: Wow, anyone catch the ending to the on-stage demo? What a fucking slap in the face to Robert Kendo.

Looks awesome. And learning about the character's "dark sides" ...that is very interesting. Hope that alludes more to the new story being betweeon Leon and Krauser.

The stage demo also confirms what many suspected. This game is played solely with the Wiimote.

Dude Bandersnatch looks awesome to the MAX! I'm super hyped for this game now.

The code Veronica scenario is starting to look creepy as hell. **runs and pops CVX into PS2**....

Alexia's/Alexia!Alfred's purple dress looks really... awkward. That black corset brings down the simplicity, and overall it just doesn't fit the attire. It's just weird.

On the other hand, Alfred in his red suit looks amazing. I really love the revamped look of Alexia and Alfred. They are GORGEOUS. I'm so thrilled to see the Ashfords again. I love them so!

I don't care for Alexia's/Alfrexia's new dress.. But Alfred looks sexy! > 3>.. I love the updated giant doll, especially the legs sticking out of it's head.. I wonder what exactly is going through Alfie's head when he decorated the place?..

              Great update! Thanks THIA! <3

I think the purpose of the corset is to give Alfred a more feminine figure. Which men don't normally have. It's definitely not as appealing as it's predecessor but I like how instead of using the same model for Alfrexia and Alexia, they appear to be making them seperate. I wonder what they'll do for the voice, the trailer appears to indicate that they will have different ones but a part of me kinda hopes for Alfred's actor to portray the character in all his incarnations.

Something else I want to comment on is the different feel I'm getting from Code Veronica this time around. It's definitely showing off as a childish hell house, with drawings on the walls and sick little 'fun house' like areas. Though these were somewhat present in the original...it seems to be making it more apparent this time around, giving it a different sort of horror feel.

I'm hoping if this is the case, Chris will comment more on the 'mansion replica' which due to the fact I hadn't played the first one...was completely over my head.

Yeah, I considered that, too, so I really hope that's the case. Because, otherwise, that corset is just hideous on what is such a nice, simple dress.

I'm loving the new look so far. Very Ashford-esque, and like you said, since it was vaguely present CVX to begin with, it is nice to see it expanded upon. It really adds a spooky feel to it.

.......This post just made me realize that since we'll most definitely be seeing the mansion replica, we'll be seeing the mansion from REmake being recycled again. *facepalm* Obviously I can't nitpick since that was a part of the original CVX, but being in the mansion AGAIN is seriously getting old... Which depresses me because it has always been my favorite setting in the series. I wonder if they'll slightly redo the foyer to indicate the difference, though. I hope we get to see many of the other rooms (i.e., the ones that were unique to the Ashford replica) while playing as Chris.

Steve continues to look adorable. And I am LOVING Alfred, he looks so great.

This so much. Even the first teaser trailer, they were giving this vibe with the "WE CAN STILL HAVE MUCH FUN." They are so effing twisted and I love them.

Well, now we know what role Kendo has in the game.

Plus, noticed how they DID kinda hint at possibly playing Chris at the stage presentation, as they mentioned how Steve was a main character from the FIRST part of the game (when it came to C:V, but it could also connect to this, maybe). Not much evidence there, but still it's something.
As for the scans: Alfred looks far more menacing now, which is fine by me, and for some reason Alexia in the tube gives off a...well...Milla Jovovich/Alice vibe.
Also, love the camera angle stuff, it really does make me think this will feel more like a horror game than UC did.

Steve's new voice is REALLY familiar. Sounds like Mike Sinterniklaas (Dean Venture in "The Venture Bros.", Leonardo in the 2003 TMNT series), but whatever.

I hadn't though about it like that, it is kind of getting old...but Claire in REmake mansion 8D? That's new...fresh...and...uh...ya.

I was never a big fan of the Ashford twins to be honest, but that line itself changed my mind.

It does doesn't it? But I suspected that it was Sam Regal and my friend whom is big fan of anime also claimed that he was 100% sure it was him as well so...

BTW, Claire looks great in the CV section.

Is it me or did some of the zombies fall down with the same exact animations from RE5 and even RE2? At one point, a zombie's shot in the leg and falls down to a knee nearly exactly like a Ganado/Majini. At other points, a zombie is shot and stumbles backward with their arms limp pretty much exactly like they did in RE2/RE3(it's the animation they do after 2-3 handgun shots, where one more shot knocks them to the ground).

Did anyone else notice this in the various videos?

That Bandersnatch looks so goddamn awesome. WANT.

ETA: The option to go into the underpass in the RE2 video makes me wonder if we'll see Zombie Brad....
