The Darkside Chronicles "Talking Evil" Blog - "The Impact of Veronica"
I think that Code: Veronica was created to go against everything that had come before in the Resident Evil series.
...So much I want to say regarding another game in the series and the sheer irony of this quote, but I won't...
Code: Veronica itself is already on the darker side of the Resident Evil series. Its story is more emotional, more insane: Steve’s crush on Claire, the life-and-death struggles in a place all but forgotten by the rest of the world, and families on the verge of falling apart – Steve’s family and the insane Ashford family. These are stories that you can’t just chart on a timeline.
This is a lovely analysis, and something I've always loved so much about CVX--the theme of family. I really hope we get to see more of it in DSC, both with the Ashfords and the Redfields (and Steve's family, too).
The more I read these blogs, the happier I become. Yasuhiro Seto's fondness for the series is so nice, and I really love how he describes aspects of the games. His understanding of what the games truly mean underneath the obvious layers is something you don't see often.

His understanding of the games only infuriates me looking back on REUC. Which was a massive "fuck you" to the entire series.
Yasuhiro Seto adn Kawata should do a new thid person title for the wii after this. They know their shit and I find it amusing that they seem to do a far better job on a on-rails Resident Evil title than Takeuchi did with 5, when it come to the horror and story elements. I think they truly get what Resident Evil really is about.

UC was defiantly a brain fuck for the previous roots, but it was a prototype considering, and then probably the budget and time constraints to go with it. Dark Side Chronicles seems to escape those flaws from the previous game this time around.

I get the absolute opposite impression.
"I think that Code: Veronica was created to go against everything that had come before in the Resident Evil series."
"These are stories that you can’t just chart on a timeline."
"The fact that you didn’t learn what Code: Veronica actually meant until you reached the end of the game was a brilliant twist."
"I wanted to give additional meaning to that story and to more closely knit it together with Resident Evil 2. I found that it wasn’t so difficult once I dissected both of them."
I agree, while I liked that he spoke about the more hinted at family theme in CVX, when he mentioned the setting (about going to "two different worlds" and an island as opposed to a city), I couldn't help but groan at the screen "yeah, the significance of that, please? Any significance?"
I mean, he could have spoken about how a city is more familiar, how an island is "darker" because it's more confined/operated by the very organization that creates these monstrosities. The isolation and solitude of cold Antarctica, as opposed to a city where potential survivors are around.
Those rambling sentences you pointed out, I think he's just being cagey because he can't explain the meat of the story to newcomers. He's nudging the fans, going "you guys know what I mean, huh? huh?" I enjoyed his earlier blogs, but this one says certain things without explaining them.
Yasuhiro Seto’s Profile
Lives in Osaka, but doesn't speak the local Osaka dialect.
Has directed titles such as RE: Umbrella Chronicles and Beat Down.
A fan of horror movies, especially the unforgettable masterpiece, "Phenomena."
He enjoyed it so much that he decided to use the band Goblin in the score.
What!?
He is using Goblin in this games soundtrack!?!?
I freaking LOVE Phenomena, its one of my favorite Argento movies! This sounds pretty awesome!
The fact that there's no Jill, and thus no whining about her, makes me happy.
Eh, if they do recycle the model, hopefully they'll at least update his hair so he doesn't look like he has plastic hair.
LOL, indeed. I hope they, at least change something of it... because they can simply copy/paste remake's model and use it here ¬¬ which wouldn't be that bad because that model is great but you know Capcom is lazy and I doubt they do something about it.
The fact that Jill won't be in REDARKSIDE is because she'll be in RE6.
