SDCC 09: Resident Evil's Wesker Gone for Good

July 23, 2009 - Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata said in a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that popular series villain Albert Wesker is not coming back. When asked if there was any way Wesker could survive the events at the end of Resident Evil 5, Kawata firmly stated, no.

"Even if you want Albert Wesker to come back," Kawata told the crowd, "there's no chance he's coming back from that."

This was then confirmed as the "definitive answer" to the possible return of Wesker.

July 23, 2009 - Producer Jun Takeuchi has said he'd like to see the Resident Evil series rebooted after Dark Chronicles. Someone asked if that was the case and who would be in charge during a panel at the San Diego Comic Con.

Here is his response: "[Kawata and I] are playing blackjack to see who has the responsibility of next episode of series." (suggesting it will indeed be a major change and no on wants to take the gamble). The big news is "It doesn't appear either of us is going to be in charge." and that it looks like it will be a difference producer. "I can't say much at this time."

Good Wesker is dead, end of. As if being shot with 2 rockets, 1 exploding in the chest whilst the other takes your head off let alone roasting alive in lava wasn't "dead" enough. It got annoying why people assume Wesker couldn't die from something like that just because he survived once from being impaled in the chest.

Good Wesker is dead, end of. As if being shot with 2 rockets, 1 exploding in the chest whilst the other takes your head off let alone roasting alive in lava wasn't "dead" enough. It got annoying why people assume Wesker couldn't die from something like that just because he survived once from being impaled in the chest.

Actually he was shot through the head with both rockets...but anyway The
explosion would have killed him anyway and if not the Lava would have
eventually after the explosion.

This bums me out...kind of.

I mean, sure the whole Wesker storyline is finished so I -personally- feel satisfied with where we left Chris and Jill. Darkside Chronicles has suddenly gotten allot of expectations from me, I feel like there's allot left to be said about Ada and the Leon x Ada subplot.

I'm kind of crossing my fingers for some ultimate publication detailing what became of every character. ALSO, with rebooting being so popular lately, I hope it's simply a new storyline with new characters and not a whole new 'universe' where Umbrella never existed. I'd really like to see the events of the past referred to once and a while, with perhaps a cameo here or there.

Reboot with the same characters. Hell yes count me in. If they bringing in brand new characters and story, I'm really not interested. I only stuck with Resident Evil because I liked the characters from the first 3 games. Like I said before don't bother starting a new story if you didn't even finish the first one. Not only will I not buy any more Resident Evil, I wouldn't buy any more Capcom games. I don't see how people can be ok with this are you not pissed that you spent all this money to get the merchandise and Res5 is the ending? Cmon if I knew that would be the ending of this series I would have never gotten into it. You can shove your new story up your ass Crapcom cause I ain't interested.

I disagree. If it is the same characters, it will suck. What reason do they have to bring back Billy, Rebecca, Barry, Chris, Jill, Leon, Ada, or Claire, if they are doing a reboot? They are all played out. It's time to bring in all new characters, which I think they're going to do. Especially if they are going for the horror type instead of the action. All of the old characters can't possibly get scared since they have already been through these kinds of situations before. If they are rebooting the series then they need a new cast. Think about it, don't you think it would be a little ridiculous if Leon or Jill re-appeared as the main character of RE6? They have both been in 2 games, just as Chris and Rebecca have.

You want to use a new character, one who has never been in a biohazard outbreak before. That is how you can effectively use the fear element.
