  • Extended Paul Anderson Interview & Unofficial RE5 PC Requirements

Movie-Web have put up an extended video interview with Paul Anderson, he mostly talks about the same things as the IGN interview before, but he also confirms that he plans to reboot the series and start a new trilogy with the fourth film. He also states that the movie will be shot in 3D, and that they'll be using tech similar to James Cameroon's Avatar.

Paul Anderson Interview thanks to aris13.

Also, French fan-site Ultimate-RE have put up some unofficial required specs for the PC version of Resident Evil 5, claiming that these were told to them by Capcom. An official announcement will be made sooner or later anyway, but for now head on over to Ultimate-RE to check out the PC requirements.

A 3D Reboot? That's an odd move to take.

Well at least they scraped the whole world is a desert thing, that was stupid. Same as the Alice clones and Wesker deal.

I hope he can shape up on this, and maybe make it as good as Event Horizon was.

But then 3D seems to scream that it's gonna suck but it's 3D so come see anyway.

I take this as an admission that the last movie was chock full of fail, even though it made money. Unfortunately this means we're gonna see Alice in Africa or some such crap. I somehow doubt they're gonna get any better...

The RE5 PC requirements seem to make enough sense.

lol reboot seems to be the new big word these days. So the story line from 1-3 may be scrapped? I don't think Milla wants to act in it anymore, right?

I don't think the RE films really had much of a storyline, they were almost standalone apart form a few small connections.

I mean going from Apocalypses ending, who would of come up with Extinction? It's just outta nowhere really.

But, Ive was thinking and I have a theory that goes out on a limb.

Anderson mentioned that Afterlife will have the biggest budget yet, and that it's gonna be a reboot. Now I bet there were a lot of things he wanted to do in the first RE film that were impossible with that films budget.

I think he may wanna sorta redo his first film, with a bigger budget and add in all the RE characters to it.

But that would not work in with the RE5 influence. So I'm not really sure.

Im sauprised that Paul Anderson is rebotting the trilogy and it's going to be 3D which is abit strange if you ask me.

It's the latest buzz word 3d talking about jumping on the bandwagon just shows how uncreative he really is and am I the only who doesn't like overdone cgi too "uncanny valley"? I prefer to see people dressed in costumes instead.

If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

I really don't understand how shooting a movie in 3D makes you uncreative.

No you aren't the only one, I hate most of the cgi heavy movies because my eyes can always spot it. However there are lots of effects and creatures that can not be done in any other way.

Hey, maybe it'll be a two hour close up of Alice as she snaps zombie necks with her thighs. It'll be so awesome I'll have to break out the cyanide.

My hope is that it'll be better than the other movies. My expectation is it's going to the same crap on a different day and the only reason he calls it a reboot is he wrote his dumb ass into a corner.

Finally we can agree on something.

While I do like CGI, I think if something can be done with puppets or in another way, do it fur sure. CGI never looks as good.

You can always touch puppets/animatronics up later with CGI anyway, that is the perfect blend.

I think Anderson is probably one of the luckiest guys on the planet, I mean he makes one good film, then makes bad film after bad film and still gets funding. He writes his dream girl into a movie of his favorite game. He then ends up marrying the actress who plays his dream girl. Then gets to make a trilogy out of it. Then when he fucks up, he gets given a second chance to make another trilogy out of it. Plus the fact that he became a reasonably successful Writer/Director in the first place is lucky. Does anyone else agree with me?
