I think it really depends on the sites to which she is referring. If she only frequents fan sites dedicated to her, for example, then the general opinion of the movies is likely to differ greatly from your typical Resident Evil fan site. Or if there are fans who e-mail her directly (I'm assuming she has her own personal site, but I don't know for certain and don't really feel like looking it up), she's probably more keen on listening to them than the rantings and ravings of the average forum goer.

Though I always find it amusing when people bash the movies, or Anderson, or Jovovich, and wonder aloud why no one ever tells them their movies suck or they themselves suck or some derivation of the two. I'd be willing to bet that if anyone who has complained about the films on the Internet actually met Anderson or Jovovich, they'd change their tune real quick and make no mention whatsoever about how awful they think the movies are.

The joys of anonymity, as it were.

Of course, what do I know? I actually enjoyed the films for what they were. I tend to think most people, namely fans of the video games, go in with the wrong mindset or expectations when they watch any of these movies.

I don't believe i'd "change my tune" - there's no use being fake about it. It would be like someone asking "Hey, how does this shirt look on me?", while the person that was asked this question thinks 'it's aweful', yet replies "It looks great!".

I wholeheartedly agree, and as Milla Jovovich put it best, "The movie makes money", whether the actual Resident Evil fanbase gives two shits, or not.
      I'm a blackstar.

It's exactly like that. And people do it all the time. I doubt it would be any different for a movie than it would be for a shirt. You, personally, might be more than willing to say to Anderson and Jovovich's faces that you think the movies are terrible, but I highly doubt most people would, even the ones who are most vocal online.

Its the polite thing to do, though. You either wouldnt mention it and focus on talking about something positive, or serve the dish honestly, but in a manner that wouldnt hurt their feelings.

I'd tell Milla to go back to singing. She was much better at that. :[

*very interested* Biohazard_EXTREME would be here being interested with me, but he's rather busy with his father's death.

Anyway, she has a point even if you don't like the movie. They make money, they sell. It's like RE4. A lot of people like it, a lot of people hate it (me), but it still made money. So RE5 came out. A lot of people like it (me), a lot of people hate it, but it still became the bestselling game of the series. Ironically enough, it's coming out in 3D for PC.

It doesn't matter if it's polite or not. If people want the director, writer/s, actor/s, etc, to get the point, then you can't beat around the bush, and whining on an Internet forum isn't going to change anything.

My point is that so many people either want these movies to stop being made or for their direction to be changed drastically, but even if they were given the perfect opportunity to voice their opinions directly to the "powers that be," few would actually take it, whether out of fear or some sort of misguided sense of "politeness."

Sometimes, for the other person to actually get the point, you just have to be brutally honest, though I'm not sure if even in this instance that would work, because, as Milla said, these movies make money, and money trumps everything else.

I understand, Im just saying that if you were behind a coffee table with Anderson, you wouldnt be "brutally honest" to the point where you were accusing and abusing him verbally.

I actually really enjoyed the first film, I liked the fact that, like the first game, it was set in a closed scenario, and actually the storyline wasn't too bad. And the laser deaths were one of the best death scenes i've seen. They got bits from here and there of the videogames just to please the fans, but I thought overall it was an enjoyable side story, even if it didn't have much to do with the games. Then films 2 and 3 were a failure in my views, because it became more and more detached from its original source, and the storylines were crap.

I don't know why it is so hard to have a good RE story on film, RE: Degeneration was really bad too.

Among some fans of the series, it is considered a MUST to bash the movies. Or else you LOVE them.

It's the "join the bandwagon kinda" thing that you also see among fans of other franchises that awake such emotionally charge emotions in them.

And it's also a typical reaction on the net. The hate thing. Being anonymous just makes being a hater so damn easy.... thus the internets being known as the home of negativity.

In short, most ppl on the net cannot avoid giving a damn about stuff that sucks.

                      So here we are... hatin'

Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

omg, if you don't want to see the movie then don't, quit your bitching... for people who want to see the movie, then fine let them, complaining and bitching isnt going to change anything, I would have thought people would have learned that by now.

                                I agree.

I don't have any problem with the movies since there non canon anyways. Anderson is just a lucky enough SOB that gets to turn his fan fics into movies and marry the girl who plays his perfect woman.

The only real RE movie is Degeneration.
