I just remembered that I read somewhere a long while back that Capcom actually wanted to include Leon in TvC since his popularity had been so high after the success of RE4. I think it was an official statement from one of the producers, but it may have only been fan speculation that I misinterpreted. But it seems very likely that he'd have been a candidate for the Capcom roster.

If they had already been planning him, not to mention having his VA (the dude, Paul Haddad or whatever his name is) recently in house to record lines for REDC, Leon is far more likely to be in the Western version of TvC than some scrub like Barry. (And as much as I hate Leon, I'd rather see Barry.)

Though it is possible that Wesker will be the RE character included, since DC Douglass has admitted to recording lines for REDC (and Capcom could have easily gotten him to say 2 more lines, or however - if any - lines are spouted by TvC combatants). And if Wesker is appearing in REDC, then Chris (Roger Craig Smith) most likely will appear as well so maybe he'll be the one penciled into TvC.

Hence my logic for those 3 being the primary candidates for TvC.

Seth's "beard" comment was directly linked to what the other post joked about, but perhaps Seth's comment on "biohazard" was a hint of sorts toward the origin of the character he sampled. But even that is reaching, much like automatically assuming that since he used the words "beard" and "biohazard" in the same sentence that Barry Burton was a new character.

*Wesker would be the coolest possible inclusion, as he is far more sinisterly charismatic (better taunts) and his physicality would be more suited to a fighting game. He's the RE version of Akuma, I guess.

Considering that Barry was not included in UC and RE 5, I doubt he will be in this game and like others said, a more popular character would be included. I would like to see Barry again but my best bet would be to play remake.

Considering Tatsunoko V Capcom plays on Nostalgia with some of its character choices, with Characters like Batsu on Capcom's side making the cut etc. Considering odds are that very few people from the current game generation even know who he is and especially who anyone is from the Tatsunoko side, badly misinterpret comment about beards or not, why not consider the possibility of someone like Barry making the cut as one of the extra characters when alot of the choices for this game bar Ryu/Chun Li are obscure enough as it is?

^Fair enough. Like I said in my last post, anything is possible when even Servbot gets to be a character in a Capcom fighting game.

Your mentioning of Batsu and the nostalgia factor probably have more of an impact in a place like Japan, which is a smaller, focused market. In appealing to the much larger Western market, I still believe that Capcom is going to want to include not obscure characters.

I imagine that the average Wii owner has no idea who Barry Burton is, unless they've played Remake Wii or are a long-time RE fan. Even most people who've played RE4 & RE5 don't know (or much less care about) the good ol' B-Man and his penchant for poor dialogue.

          Just sayin'

I don't think TvC is the type of game that is targeting or catering to the "average Wii owner" (a.k.a. casual gamer or non-gamer) at all. So trying to come up with the identity of this mystery character based on what that large group of people may want (they don't want this game), is probably not the right approach here.

So Capcom is most likely trying to cater to the ones that have supported their RE efforts on the Wii. Other than Monster Hunter, the Resident Evil franchise is the only series that has done well on that platform.

But then again, you never know... mystery guy might be Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

              It's Sheva, she's Chris' "beard".

I can list lots of Capcom characters included in fighting games that were obscure characters from popular and unpopular franchises alike. There's even one in TvC (see: Saki). Barry in TvC isn't that inconsiderable.

Saki was a helper character in the first Marvel vs Capcom, but you're right about her obscurity...as I believe that she was an arcade character from a Japan-only game.

But I still think Barry is far, far less likely than Chris, Leon, or Wesker (if they include an RE character). And to remind everyone, Sven was talking about his own beard, not a bearded character.

How shocking. The most harmless post made in this thread in a long time and it STILL gets thrown back with venom.

If you've anything along the lines of this to say, you know where my profile page is (and by all means, back up your comments). You don't need to further derail the topic at hand with such bullshit do you? No? Moving on then...
