Anyway, yes I know tentative (and it will probably be scrapped), but "Resident Evil Begins?" This has to be a joke. A supercomputer...umm am I 12 years old? What year is it? Ohhh, this feels like that twilighty show about that zone.

Batman is a great film, unfortunately (or fortunately for the latter two as people might posit) I've only seen pieces of the other 3.

      Corrected.

Christ. I hate the movies just as much as most (though a lot of people take it too far), but whatever they do you lot are still going to complain.

How long have you all been whining about how bad a character Alice is, about how you wanted her removed? And now that's being put on the table, people are STILL complaining?

Alice is the biggest name attached to the movies, how were you expecting her to be taken out WITHOUT them rebooting the series?

What would that achieve though? We've played the original. Then we've played the REmake with added story. And you want go through it again? RE1's story is done, time to move on.

The problem is - it did work the first time, the movie was successful worldwide .

You're assuming a reboot would mean Alice is gone. Since Milla's husband is writing and directing the damned thing most likely, and absolutely adores the Alice character, plus it seems to be that Alice is a large part of what the movie fans like, I don't think we can expect a reboot to not include her. And as long as she is there and Anderson's involved the whole movie will hang off her, forcing screen time for other characters into ever smaller amounts.

Honestly, I suspect a reboot is in the works because Anderson can't think of a way to make a fifth film make any sense. The fourth one kills off Wesker and then where does he go? Umbrella's gone, humanity is gone...a two hour epic of Alice walking along and killing everything in her path with no story and no dialogue, just her gradually loosing clothes until she is topless for the last half hour and naked for the last ten minutes would likely sell, but he probably fears lynching.

It's simply not because of just Alice--it's that the movies are treated like shitty spinoffs than actually adapting what the RE games are about. They want to remake it? Well, then, start from the actual games begining. Chris, Jill, Wesker, mid-western town named Raccoon City. Spooky mansion, etc etc.

What is this BS crap about high tech labs and Red Queen AI. Anderson has PROVED he is nothing mroe than a hack since it seems the man has turned RE into his personal cash cow to mil at his whim because there "sucessful". While the RE films are "sucessful", if they were truly adapted, and adapted right using the great source material the folks at Capcom have developed over the years--you'd be looking at MUCH BIGGER Box office returns the likes of the biggest box office juggarnants see. There's terrible, terribly underestimated value in characters like Chris, Jill, Barry, and Wesker. It's just fucking frustrating that even with a possible reboot, that THEY STILL WON'T FUCKING TAKE A CHANCE AND ADAPT THE GAMES. Nope, gotta have Alice involed.

And I don't mean to sound like I"m upset, because really, I stopped being bothered by the movies long, long ago. But it just sucks that even know, there is no improvement in the situation. That's all. That's why people are "complaining." And that complaining is very legitimate too.

I hope they just make it a new movie and stop using the name of Resident Evil.

I understand a reboot, but a reboot with the same director/writer. Makes zero sense. It's like firing a football player, due to poor performance, then resigning him and saying his performance will boost the team.

Am just basing it on this...

Also, what will this mean for Resident Evil franchise star, Milla Jovovich? She’s the zombie-killing hero of the franchise, and is synonymous with it in the mind of audiences. If the lack of mention of her character in the early plot description above is anything to go by, she won’t be in the film. Will that be a mistake for the franchise money-wise, or will audiences go see a Resident Evil film whether Jovovich is in it or not?
                        ...where i read this news.

So the rumours go. For now I'm not believing a word of it. Anderson loves Alice. And do you really think she'll say no to her sugar daddy? Even if it means a million less shiny dollar coins...for someone who already has goodness only knows how many millions? If it gets confirmed then things get more interesting but Alice has been the big selling point so far.

In fairness, I can even live with her in this reboot...but not if she's the heart, soul and entirety of the movie again. If she's in the reboot for the first movie I suspect the major difference will be everyone else will be played by unknown actors and they'll be moar Alice. MOAR!

To be honest, i'm not even believing any of this reboot stuff at all. It's only the other week they were telling us about the next film being the start of the new trilogy!

Time will tell about the rumours, but... a reboot is just stupid. Get rid of Alice, the super crazy computer, hire a proper writer and Horror films director and then we can talk about spectations on a good reboot. If not, why to remake the first movie with the same theme? The only one barely acceptable.

And what are they gonna do for the 4th movie then? Keep the idea of the super clon army of Alice's?.

A reboot, huh? That would be awesome. All I care about is that they don't follow the story of the games. Like Stu said, it's been run through already. I can play the games whenever I want, so I don't need a movie doing the same thing that I can do myself.

Also, and I'm not trying to spark a flame-war here, but I really hope that the people who hate Alice hate Leon post-RE2 as well. He does worse things than her.

"Supercomputerzzz! D:" Yeah, and? It's not like Resident Evil ever had nothing to do with computers. I'm sure Umbrella, big and powerful and rich and ubiquitous as they are, could afford a supercomputer.

"Not related to Resident Evil! D:" Look at Apocalypse, and people were still bitching. Anderson didn't want to basically make a movie of a game we've already played (we know how I feel about that ), so he continued his storyline while using game characters, locations, and events.

"Not scary!" RE4/5. Besides, the RE movies were never really meant to be scary to begin with (as far as I know). Like RE4, they're a fun, campy action adventure romp. (Except for the horrible dialogue of 4. That wasn't campy, that was just outright bad.)

"Alice is overpowered!" Leon's done worse than her. I never saw her flipping through lasers like she was the fucking Prince of Persia.

"Alice uses telepathy!" Alexia could spontaneously sprout massive deadly tentacles no matter where she was, I'd say that's worse than killing crows with a flamethrower's flames.

"Alice is a Mary Sue!" Sure, I can agree with that. She's the main character, she should have the most screen time. That doesn't stop LJ from cracking hilarious jokes, or Jill from fucking up some zombies in the graveyard and the school, or Carlos helicopter-diving and having an epic moment in Extinction where he sacrifices himself once he's infected. Claire had no issues gunning people down in the desert, last I checked.\

With all that being said, I still can't wait for Afterlife. It sounds awesome. And then with the reboot, I can only guess as to what he's gonna do with it. Well, obviously reboot it... But I wonder where he'll take it from there.
