  • Resident Evil 5 PC Launches Today!

Resident Evil 5 PC is hitting store shelves today and for those with high-end PCs, be sure to check out the amazing 3D visuals. If you want to see if your PC is compatible with Resident Evil 5, you can also download the benchmark demo here (it says 3-d, but it works for standard set ups as well). You can check out the required specs after the break.

You can purchase and download your copy on Steam, Impulse, Direct2Drive, and the Capcom Store. Physical copies are available at all major retail stores.

      Nice.
I'll get it when i upgrade. Looking forward to mouse support for sure... I've heard that the PC controls feel a lot more natural.

Also i'm really excited to see what the modding community will do for this one. It took a while to crack into the workings of the RE4 port, but once they figured it out the mods came a-flyin'.

Played it, finished it. Not a very good game IMO, I expected it to be better. RE4 was better (and of course the older games in the series were much better than both of these games)

About the PC port: Mouse looking felt weird, it was like emulating a gamepad with the mouse. But mouse aiming was great, I did tons of headshots. In fact the game felt way too easy because of the mouse aiming. I need to play it in the harder difficulty the next time.

Graphics are in some places AMAZING in others quite LAME. There are some extremely annoying low res textures, and the motion blur technique uses only a few samples (or whatever) and thus it frequently produces significant artifacting.

What felt way too weird is the minimal use of physics (RE5 uses Havok but it felt almost exactly like RE4, meaning there weren't any significant additions. Example: shoot the large leaves of a plant and nothing happens!) & the way too restrictive space in which you can move that made the game feel like a corridor shooter. At times I was asking myself: This game was released in 2009??

        LOVED:
        - Some places & cutscenes have perfect graphics.
        - The Library. The stories there were far more engaging than the in-game story.
        - Wesker. Perfect look & perfect voice.
        - No mercy. Tons of enemies to shoot.. Much fun!
        - The fact that it is a very well optimized port.

        For 25 euros it's well worth it. ( http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/6735...5/Product.html )

The only reason I bought 4 on the PC was for the weapon/ skins mods. There is something romantic about blowing the crap out of Ganados with a ridiculous chrome plated Desert Eagle. Nice to see that the port of 5 has had some effort put into it unlike the very lazy port of 4 with its PS2 textures.

Got my copy today. The "realistic" color mod from the benchmark works just fine on the game, and I'm currently playing through with it. It's going to take me a while, everything is so clear so I keep moving in to get better look at the tiny details. Not to mention, my new computer monitor is amazing. And when I played RE5 on the PS3, well. All we have in this house is a like 27 inch TV that's not HD-- hell not even flatscreen. So I was never able to fully appreciate how absolutely GORGEOUS this game is. ♥ I am having a lot of fun, using my PS controller though from the tiny bit I screwed around with it, the keyboard controls are very nice.

I would eventually like to get this to add to my collection and play the game with whatever mods that are created. They probably will be better than any DLC that might come out.

A video of the 'No Mercy' mode of Mercenaries. Lots and lots and LOTS of Majini. Pretty intense.

Wow. Now THAT is what RE5 should have been like. Instead of that silly cocktease at the beginning of the game.

can someone name me a thread where I can ask questions about the system requirements for the PC?
