I don't want to be silly about this, but I must point out the irony of this news post Dot - the news post below and above are about Darkside Chronicles and contains spoilers including images of a new character and a new enemy respectively, which in a lot of ways defeats the valid points people made about why you needed the forum to begin with.

Personally I don't care myself... I've read all I need to know, but if there are people who would expect this to be considered spoilers, I would suggest the news team put a vague description and info and link to a complete news topic in the spoilers forum where people can go read the news in detail with the images rather than putting it on the front page.

Official media released by Capcom to the media isn't spoilers.

It actually can be. Before RE5 was released in America (I think), Capcom-Unity had images from the Versus battle mode and it showed Jill on the main page. I found that to be heavily spoilerish, even though Jill being in the game was pretty obvious.

Uhm, I wouldn't say that. Just look at all those RE5 trailers that showed every single scene with Irving (and even his mutated state), showed that Wesker killed Spencer and nearly screamed "hey, that Birdwoman is Jill!". And let's not forget about the God-awful PC trailer, where they put nearly every spoiler they could without even being subtle :|.

Perhaps they could just move all DSC news to it's own thread in the the DSC spoiler forum...fixed.

                    How rude! :p heh

Some people also choose not to read that information or visit sites be it media based or official. Even so, most websites such as IGN or Gamespot, tease "new character revealed" with a generic game based image allowing people to choose to look at the story in full if they dont care.

I'm purely making the point not to say it shouldn't be there for people to read, but mostly to allow people who care about spoilers - and thus one of the key componants of the spoiler forum - to avoid having stuff shown to them.

Sure, I agree about that... but technically speaking they're not spoilers, in the sense of revealing major plot points like, for example, the case of the Versus images on Capcom-Unity showing Jill like Rosseta pointed out (but still, they were shown after the game was released).

I'd probably argue that ANY information let out, by whatever source, would be considered a spoiler.

A screenshot shows a zombie...it's spoiled the fact that zombies are in the game.

A factsheet reveals Krauser is playable...it's spoiled one of many playable characters.

A trailer gives you a look at a new scenario...again, spoiled.

So yeah, i would definitely have to include the vast majority of what's in the Famitsu scans as spoilers. Particularly on the back of RE5, where we'd have never thought beforehand that the trailers were going to spoil so much of the game without us even knowing it!

I'm with Stu on this still.... technically anything released after the game is first announced can be considered a spoiler. In the case of Darkside Chronicles people are a little more laxed because 2 of the scenarios revisit previous games, but especially in this case the news posts I mentioned cover the new scenario.

I guess in the end it's up to the news posters to think about how the present it, but I kinda just think it defeats the purpose of even having the spoiler forum (especially after the valid points made that had Dot put it there).
