Considering that we'll all have to pay for that bonus disc.
They should add a lot more... (costumes, scenes, subchapters) Not only for Jill, if that's of your concern.Last edited by Vector; 09-24-2009, 05:03 PM.

It's a budget release...like Lost Planet's? With the extra content at no extra cost?
Or if the extra scenario is available as DLC by itself?

It has to be a DLC for 360, it doesnt make any sence to ask $60 for an extra level and some new costumes. And not to beat the topic dead but there is no way there are going to be zombies or any BOW's in the spencer estate, it just doesnt make any sence. Spencer isnt hanging out and the zombies are making him dinner and shit, maybe there are armed guards and whatever but Chris and Jill just seemed to like be running around the mansion like nothing was wrong, so this whole idea seems a litte sketchy to me...I guess we will have to wait on the trailer later today and go from there...And is it me or do i think this new motion controler for PS3 is retarded, and if they ever come out one for 360 ill just give up on video games all together.

Other than the fact that it could probably be issued as DLC, they will probably show the whole damn thing before they release it. That's why I've not watched anything concerning Darkside since the first two trailers. I think this is just a cheap attempt at hawking the game again with a "new shiny package".
Nobody forced you to watch the media being released on RE5 before its release. No one twisted your arm, nor forced you to visit websites full of speculation and rumors.
I honestly don't get how so many people claim RE5 was "completely" ruined/spoiled by the trailers/gameplay vids released up to 3/13. Sure, there were some reveals - Wesker's presence, Jill's tombstone, Irving's fate - but other than that, Capcom recycled most of the Kijuju footage spliced with Ndesu and a few other tidbits. But I still was surprised by many things that occurred in the main game, and I was frequenting this site up until about a week prior to official release.
I had no idea Lickers were in the game. I had no idea Excella would be tested on by Wesker. I had no idea U-8 was a giant crab. I had no idea there was a deserted train yard. I had no idea Excella would mutate into the towering Uroboros Aheri. I had no idea there was a ship level, filled with AK-47 wielding majini. Etc, etc. So many things from the main game were NOT shown, yet the way people tell the tale, you'd think the entire game, and every minute detail, was shown beforehand.

*This isn't to say that Capcom wouldn't use the Arklay backdrop againm though after having been in RE1 and RECV, it'd be beyond stupid to use it again in RE5.
**Just to ensure I don't eat crow (haha), here is a pic for comparison:
Some elements look similar (I wouldn't be surprised if Spencer had a replica foyer for nostalgia), but the balcony railing is different, as is the placement of the pillars. The ceiling looks different as well, though the upper hallway entrances look exactly the same.
***Ah fuck it, now you all have me wondering if you're right. Damn you all and your intense scrutiny of the smallest details. Perhaps it all is the same. I had mainly focused on the foreground pictures on Chris and Jill, and didn't study the background too much. I'd like to hope that Capcom wouldn't reuse some of the Arklay Mansion architecture AGAIN. The main foyer looking the same is okay, I guess, but for God's sake we've seen it too many times when it reappeared in RECV.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 09-24-2009, 05:26 PM.

^There was a lot shown, but could you honestly piece it all together? Now I may just be a simpleton, but I had no idea how the game would progress. Public Assembly -> Caves -> etc. I was certainly surprised by the research facility near the flower garden, and most other things that occurred afterward. I also really couldn't figure out things like what the heck Irving was talking about concerning "fireworks show." Haha. All the snippets were spaced out from various points in the game. Shit, who would have known there'd be disposed test subjects on a conveyor belt? Or how about Popokarimu's encore?
There were even other things that surprised me that I actually did not like: wetland majini, the Indiana Jones-esque levels.
These are just a few examples of the game really not showing much at all in the grand scheme of things. Lots of things were shown, but unless you analyzed them on a daily basis, or watched every trailer in super slow motion, then really the average fan could not piece it all together. And then, if they were doing those things, then they are to blame for the game being spoiled. Since they were looking for it.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 09-24-2009, 05:35 PM.

It's not so much that things were pieced together, but the fact that they showed too much in general. Irving's scene on the boat was shown. Popokarimu was shown. Wesker unmasking Birdwoman was shown. Ndesu was shown. The crocodiles were shown. The ruins were shown. The giant elevator was shown. In one of the last trailers, Lickers were shown.
Few things surprised Rosetta and I when we played RE5 for the first time -- U-8 was one of them. The ship was a surprise, the labs were a surprise, and Reapers were a surprise. Pretty much everything in the first 4 or so chapters were shown in trailers, no matter how much or how little, and that's the issue I have.
Again, no one made me watch the trailers, but the fact that Capcom released so much is what is irritating.

Well keep in mind that ... people watched the trailers. It's not as if when there was a post on this forum about a new trailer that you were forced to watch it and then discuss. Trailers were linked, people watched. Yes, in that essence they revealed things, but it's up to the personal discretion of people whether or not they want to watch it, and thus have parts of the games revealed to them. I'm pretty sure the trailers posted were given appropriate warnings as well. It's not Capcom's fault, really. Trailers is what pumped people who chose to watch them about the game if they wanted to see what else new would be shown here! That's the point of new things coming out with each new trailer. Otherwise there is no actual points for trailers.
As for the image comparison ... man I'm confused too. The ceilings look similar at most, not IDENTICAL, but ... different renders/slightly different looks in general do happen over time. Either way, I'm sure that if any more contents are released, like teaser screencaps, that us RE geeks will instantly notice the backgrounds as the old mansions if they look familiar at all. XD

As for the birdwoman reveal - that was the final trailer, shown like a week or so prior to the Japanese release. By that point, everyone pretty much knew who she was. Alas, you didn't know at what point in the game it would occur, nor the resultant melee.
And it's the same thing Naughty Dog is currently doing with Uncharted 2...lots of trailers, with lots of story bits - characters, settings, etc - not to mention gameplay vids, developer interviews, VA interviews. Pretty much the standard affair for high profile releases. Yet RE5 seems to catch the most flak (which makes sense, as this is an RE-centric site). Still, you are somewhat right about the amount of tidbits pre-released regarding RE5, as it has made me stray from most UC2 media.
I still fail to see that Capcom utterly, completely, or nearly spoiled the entire experience. A lot was shown, but a lot was also not shown. As I said, I guess it is all relative.

*Side note: Looking back through this thread, I think it was Dark Chris & Mr Zombiethat mentioned the possibility of Ivans being the protection for Spencer in the additional scenario. I said the same thing in the other thread. I hope Capcom does something like that. It's always nice to see continuity.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 09-24-2009, 06:02 PM.

I can honestly say that there weren't to many surprises for me as most of it was shown in trailers or was just to predictable. The only thing that really was a surprise for me was that Wesker was one of the Wesker children and I realized that when I read the file in the library.Last edited by Stars1356; 09-25-2009, 02:07 AM.
