Honestly i'm disappointed, why this Alternative Edition when Capcom could easily release a patch to add motion controller support (possible since LBP and others 11 games will be getting a patch) to the original game and release the extra contents as DLCs?

          Capcom... capcom...

What exactly has changed since i shot this down for you yesterday? Absolutely NOTHING has been revealed about how the game will be released, there's NOTHING to stop them from offering it as a full disc release, and with the extras available as downloadable content.

That's true. I suppose it depends entirely on how much money they think they'll make if they release it as a disc only compared to how much they'll make if it's DLC as well. My bet? It'll be both, but you'll need to wait a few months for the DLC version to try and milk those too impatient to wait. After a few months anyone who wants it and hasn't bought it is either waiting for the second hand copies (which make Capcom no money) or the DLC.

Disc release, and DLC extras on the same day, it's just how things are usually done this generation.

What is changed?! Today we know there will be a uselless Alternative Edition, and no DLC and patch, not yet confirmed.

Yesterday, we knew there'd be another edition though?

But yeah, it's useless right, only adds a whole new scenario with the two characters that starred in the very first Resident Evil game! Good one!

I don't understand this move by Capcom; I mean, you have new content that you know will sell and yet you release it only to the smallest userbase? WTF.

It better come out for 360 too, as DLC if nothing else.

People surely do jump into conclusion too fast, eh?

The new content will be released to the 360 too, they promoted the game as a multiplatform release all the tme, why would they drop it just now with this new version? Especially when both consoles are launching motion controls...

Anyway, Spencer Estate playable, yay! Hopefully this means zombies and more classic BOWs return (Hunters!).

Smallest userbase for now, PS3 sales are rocketing though.

Besides, Microsoft ain't done their thing yet. If they don't match the motion tech, it's guaranteed they'll get all the other stuff because Capcom have a multiplatform policy for it's content.

Classic BOWs returning would be kick ass! I don't know what those new controls are, haven't heard anything about them so far, but seems exciting. I have a ps3 and I might check this new edition out, but I do hope for the 360-gamers that they will get the bonus content too, since it wouldn't be fair.

Here's another shot of a promo art for the Director's Cut (or in Japan, Alternative Edition):
