RE5 Director's Cut TGS Gameplay Demo and Trailer Leaked
Funny thing, considering people bitched about puzzles/traps not being featured much in RE4/5, and now that they're making an appearance again - well, the bitching has begun about why they're returning.
Except, you know, RE4 had numerous puzzles, probably more than some other games in the series, matter of fact. They may have been super-super easy, but they were there.
EDIT: Also, I really like the use of Moonlight Sonata in the trailer and I lol'd at Chris's comment about cranks. Seriously, how many times did we have to turn cranks in the original?

Yea that is awesome...I've listened to moonlight sonata every night before going to bed since I played the original RE, no joke lol. RE1 is my favorite game of all time, so of course I'm going to love any old school mansion/puzzle scenarios. Although, I'd just prefer the new chapter as dlc...but I guess it would look nice in the collection.

Trust me, man, you're wasting your breath.
Anyway, I'm for nostalgia trips as much as the next person (playing Moonlight Sonata in the background was a great touch), but I really hope they do something new with this scenario. Granted, it's kind of hard to tell what the scenario will encompass from such a brief teaser trailer, not to mention one that's such poor quality, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Probably, but it's hard for me to resist refuting things like that.
Anyway, I do hope this scenario is of fairly decent length. I know I was disappointed by how short Fear 2: Reborn was (like 1 hour 45 minutes) considering the size of the file.
The one thing that strikes be as really bizarre about all of this though is how the controls are set up.
I mean, seriously, holding the remote AND A Dualshock? That just seems pretty impractical.
Then again, maybe it will turn out to be better than expected.

I guess they can't just make a Nunchuk attachment, or else people will really lay into them for ripping off Nintendo. XD

Lol, thats exactly what I was just thinking. Some people are just never satisfied I guess. It could be a newly modeled Raccoon City scenario and there would still be complaints. I think the game looks fun, it's bringing back classic RE elements and combining it with the new formula. Just walking around the Spencer Mansion in third person view with HD graphics is enough to make me happy. The whole thing being out of place is the last thing on my mind, because frankly, there are alot of things in the series that don't make sense.

Well, apparently Capcom was asking for fan input concerning potential DLC awhile back on their Capcom-Unity boards. So, I'm guessing that vocal fans posted their thoughts on scenarios, and the result is the "Alternative Edition" C&J castle scenario. Capcom probably took the most favored ideas, and figured out a way to fit them toward a playable segment within the game's context.
If people are going to bitch now, maybe they should have participated in that thread when Capcom was asking for fan ideas. I've consistently read that people believe Capcom to "not listen to or care about their fans," and this is another example of it not being the case. But seeing as much flak as they get from some fans, I wouldn't blame Capcom if they sometimes did ignore their fans.
... I freaked so hard. NOSTALGIA TRIP. Once I heard that piano I just went "OH GOD!"
Yeah, hearing Moonlight Sonata made me smile a little bit...but then again, it worries me. Is that ALL this scenario is going to be? Just one big nostalgia trip? I feel like Hideo Kojima might as well be directing this with the scenario being one big self-pat on the back for the past accomplishments.
Yes, I realize that, and I never presented it as fact. I presented it as a question...and I'm just going on what we have right now. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this was just a small attempt at an MGS4-type deal with all kinds of nods to previous installments to FINALLY hush the cries of the fans who cried for 'classic Resident Evil.' "You want your mansion? Here it is. You want puzzles? Go fucking crazy. You want Moonlight Sonata? PLAY AWAY, BITCHES!" So. in case you haven't noticed, I don't have very high expectations for anything Capcom does...especially not after RE5. I won't even say that I'm cautiously optimistic about this. A line that Vince Vaughn said in the movie Dodgeball comes to mind here...
"I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal."
The same attitude can be applied with expectations. I really don't have any expectations for Resident Evil 5.1 - Operation: Ozwell. Rather than getting my hopes up this time, I'm gonna expect dogshit, so if it's anything other than that, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I know it's a shitty outlook, but this is better than the way I felt after completing the sack of sadness that was RE5.
I want to be excited, I really do -- but I'm suppressing my feelings.
