  • Capcom wants to know how YOU want your Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition served!

    Capcom Unity just put up a blog post feat. a poll, asking for Community Members to voice their opinion on whether or not they want Resident Evil 5 - Alternate Edition as a physical release on disc, or if a DLC solution would "do the trick."

    Hop on over to Capcom Unity and let yourself be heard on the matter.

    Personally, I think that poll is missing the "both" option, but maybe that's just me. As much as I love my Lost Planet: Colonies Edition disc, I really did wish that all of those who were not up for double dipping could've just bought an "Update/Expansion" for their original Extreme Conditions release. Maybe a stand alone disc could've been a possibility for some too? Episodes of Liberty City, anyone?

    NOOOO. More people voted it for DLC(while I understand why they would).

    Then again, to be honest, I have no problem whether I have to get the physical box edition or the DLC edition.

    Let's just hope the "better" is chosen.

      Is this new scenario the only thing they are adding to the game? Are they adding anything else? I'm assuming they are considering they did ask the fans what they wanted in RE5.

        So far "Lost In Nightmares" is the only new content revealed, but in Famitsu they said this isn't the only new content.

          Takeuchi once again in "you're full of shit" shocker haha! This certainly nullifies any hope and expectations people might have had for this package in terms of longevity.

          DLC every day of the fucking week.

          Having read the full article...it's not even definite that they'd still go with whatever wins, it's just going to shape their recommendation.

            A 'both' selection would be ideal, but I'd still prefer it to be DLC. I already have RE5 on disc. I don't need another.

              You know...

              *backs off for safety*

              I'm thinking, why not make this RE6? Stretch the scenerio, add gameplay and scenes before they reach the mansion, then the Mansion/Estate, then the Castle, the "You know what Scene" happens, Chris picks up Spencer's body, 3rd part of the game starts, have to escape self-destructing Castle, we meet with a familiar character outside, must work together and escape the forest and whatnot, get help, fly back to USA.

              ...

              Okay. That's a terrible idea. Forget it.

              I mean, it's better than people asking others in future, WHICH RE5 is WHICH? Why are there 2 RE5's? Might as well as make RE6 a prequel to RE5, and RE7 a new RE.

                DLC = less material
                DISC = more material

                so disc could be the better way
                Spoiler:

                  Do you have anything to base this on?

                    It also gives Capcom the chance to add more junk to it, and feed off of the irresistable ones with more LEs and such (although I'm not counting myself, I'm speaking for others).

                    I can care less for the price, I've bought more expensive things before. Well, as long as it's not insanely priced.

                      That's not necessarily true. At all.

                      Also, what if I just want a new scenario/few new scenarios, Mercenaries characters, weapons, maps, etc., but I have no desire to play the game with motion controls? They should release the game as both disc-based AND downloadable, with the DLC being for the people who already own the game and just want the new content.

                        Why would DLC mean less material? There's already full games being released as DLC in XBL and PSN, some of them over 5 GB.

                          My opinion is firmly on DLC - after the GTA expansions, there's no way this can bigger than those and they are DLC for those that want it. After purchasing 3 copies of the game already, and knowing I'll probably enjoy the wand so that'll make a 4th, I'm not over enthused to then have to shell out for a 5th knowing that the PS3 version is the technically inferior of all formats.

                            A disc re-release but at budget price will be kind of great.

                              I don't quite see the DLC = Less Material argument.

                              GTAIV's DLC?
                              Prince of Persia's Epilogue had a pretty decent size to it too.
                              The extra Force Unleashed maps?
                              Burnout Paradise's DLC?

                              I'm pretty sure that whatever solution they end up with (Stand alone "new content only" disc + DLC is what I prey for ), the content will probably be the Mansion, some new costumes and evt. some minor touches to Mercenaries (+maybe some sort of under the hood updates/tweaks to the game/engine.)
