Who died and made you Roger Ebert? Degeneration was awful, just another spotlight on Terminator Leon. At least Alice shows emotion and doesn't stand there like a log. >_>
I can just as easily say that the live-action movies are better, and back it up.
They make more money.
Resident Evil - $102,441,078
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - $129,394,835
Resident Evil: Extinction - $150,000,000
Entire Trilogy - $381,935,913
vs.
Resident Evil: Degeneration - $8,547,105
Profit Difference - $373,288,808
That's not an opinion. It's a fact.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 10-09-2009, 10:07 PM.

That's some serious sad figures. Degeneration was far from perfect but it had potential. I'd take another Capcom CGI film over one of Anderson's anytime. I can't believe Extinction took 150 mill.Last edited by P Anderson DIE; 10-09-2009, 10:40 PM.

I can, it's a good movie. Now, I just want to know, what fuels your intense hatred towards Paul W.S. Anderson? Aside from "the movies suck" or "Alice sucks" or "Milla Jovovich sucks" or "[insert anything with Paul W.S. Anderson related to it] sucks". Three solid reasons. (Not trying to make you look bad, I just want to know why people hate him so much).

When I first heard that a Live Action Res film was being made I thought Mansion, Zombies, S.T.A.R.S., Horror, Suspense, Gore = One hell of a horror movie and let's admit it how hard would it be to make a good Resident Evil film based in the Spencer Estate, I'm pretty sure any Res fan could have wrote a better movie than he did. He also did the same to the Alien Vs Predator franchise.
He took Resident Evil and said to hell with the game I'm just gonna write my own version and cast my wife as the lead. To me that is disrespectful, We (The fans) are the only reason that those movie's where made and I think we deserve to see a film which is actually based on the game and not his version.
Alice? Alice? Who the fuck is Alice?
I hope they pass the reigns over to someone else after this 4th "film", There was talk of a reboot, if done in the right way these film's could have been classics instead of cheap bargain bin disasters. The way I imagined Resident Evil in my head when I first heard it was going to be made into a film would definatley be in my top 5 classic all time movies. Can anyone honestly say Anderson's Resident Evil is in your top 5 all time best films?
The only way Anderson's films would be in someones top 5 is if they have actually only ever seen 5 films.

The only Anderson film I liked was Mortal Kombat. It was fun, and it didn't butcher the video game versions of the characters like the Resident Evil films do.Mass production? Ridiculous!

I think the main problem with the movies is the first one didn't have much to do with RE, but it stayed within the game's canon. Some bits were a stretch but it all fit in OK. I always assumed that was why they went with the Anderson version over the Romero version. Then we got Apocolypse and the cluster fucks started. There are so many issues with that movie I don't think I'll ever manage to list them all. The giant metal wall Umbrella managed to raise in three days. The thousands of survivors who got out of the city and Umbrella apparently managed to bribe into silence...for no real reason since the world ended in the next movie. Nemesis. Poor Nemesis. Why did Anderson have to take his balls, mount them on a ring, and present it to Alice for her hand in marriage?
But the biggest problem was Alice and the actual RE characters. Let's face it, the actual RE characters achieve very little. They also don't seem a great deal like there characters. Bad girl Jill didn't especially work, serious and intense Carlos wasn't great...and niether of them got more than twenty five minutes on screen either. And when they did get on screen it was mostly so they could be saved by Alice. In the church. In the graveyard. In the school kitchen. Carlos managed to take out the one guy out of half a dozen Alice missed. I think that was the most notable achievement.
Most people don't like the movie because they like the games and hate seeing a super powered Mary Sue getting all the screen time and story. Everything is about Alice. The only character who had anything important about them, Angie, may have eaten a round to the face between movies. And Alice killed her so she could angst. And now? She has a clone Army. More Alice! Just what the movies needed. And, sure, it looks like we're going to get Chris and Jill together, although given the general characterisation Jill will be the chain smoking madam of a brothel for slaves she's caught and Chris will be a broken alcoholic whose seen too much who Alice will manage to sober up and turn awesome, although nowhere near as awesome as she is.
I'm not looking foward to these. I just hope, for all the is holy, that he retcons all the plant life and water getting eaten by the virus. That was the single most stupid attempt to give a movie a post apocolyptic feeling I have ever seen, and I've seen some truly awful horror movies. Gangs of the Dead springs to mind as one of the movies that could learn something from the RE movies.

DO NOT WATCH IT!
and if you can't resist, downloaded it from internet in a rmvb format. Because even divx is too good to these crappy Anderson movies.
Not a single buck more to Anderson!
He rapped Resident Evil and he must pay!

Last I checked, she was a woman. She shows her boobs in all three movies... >_> And this is nothing like Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead had people trying to escape the zombie horde, not find survivors and keep them safe.
I don't understand what's so funny about her fighting the Umbrella Corporation, that's what Chris and Jill had been doing ever since RE1 came out... and again with the Left 4 Dead reference. It's not like Left 4 Dead.
Someone trying to help other people reach safety, ahahaha, that's fucking hilarious!
As for LA, it's on the way to Alaska from where they were previously so they might need to stop and get gas (like Las Vegas). If they're saying LA is the safe haven, then they're just gullible. Either that, or they go in knowing its a trap since Las Vegas turned out to be one.

Degeneration appeared in only select theaters for a very limited time and then went straight to DVD. Considering that, its figures are pretty good.
The live-action RE movies; $100,000,000 isn't even a blip on the radar compared to a good portion of successful movies released in the last twenty years.A man chooses...a slave obeys.

That is, the numbers come from the American market with no mention of the sales numbers from other oversea markets. Nor do they include Blu-Ray and UMD sales figures either.Last edited by Pikminister; 10-10-2009, 05:21 PM.Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.
