Great, but is it region locked?

RE5 and it's multiplayer were region free, I would imagine this is too.

Versus is "Deal of the Week" (w/40% discount) in all regions except from Japan.

That's a good question. I'm curious to know if people are still playing RE5 and its extra game modes. If they aren't, they I can understand why Capcom reduced the points to buy the Versus Mode. I think it is bugging Capcom that RE5 didn't live up to its hype, so they are doing everything they can to keep RE5 in people's minds (Alternative Edition, Extra Content, Cutting the price), but I don't feel bad. Capcom literally went out of their way to make RE5 the way they did.

Myself and a few others from this site still play RE5; mostly Versus mode. Co-op mercs and co-op versus increase the replayability.

I guess you missed the part where RE5 became the top selling entry (in the entire franchise) just during the time period of March to June of this year. During a global recession, no less. So I'd say that almost 6 million copies sold within a 3 month window is 'living up to hype.' (5.5 mill sold as of June 1, 2009)

Cost cutting and extra content are typical for most games nowadays within a certain timeframe after the initial release. If you take off the hate-colored glasses you will see the facts.

It's regular price is 400, not 800 though...

After SS ranking all maps with all characters, both Solo and Duo, I lost interest in Mercs. Versus really hooked me though. Especially Team Surv. But after fighting with, and against, the best Japanese players I lost interest. After you master something it gets boring. Once me and my Japanese friend won 37 Team Surv matches in a row. Then we got tired lol. It was really boring. That Japanese guy was, and most probably is, a number 1 on Village Leaderboards. Unlike most top rankers, he was actually a great player XD.

All in all I really enjoyed Versus and liked it. Played it for 3-4 months every day. It really is very strategic. I highly recommend it to all old-school RE fans. The Versus mode is very unique, and not for everyone. If you like RE5 controls, buy it.

Well maybe RE 5 didn't live up to some of the fans expectations but I enjoyed the game. Haven't played Versus Mode yet and might think about it if they have a deal on the PSN.
