If true this is a great news, but after RE5 on the Wii, Capcom must port the Chronicle series to HD platforms or PS3/360 fanboys will get angry

Can't see anything good out of this... I mean, if RE5 is ported to the wii, the engine can be used for other stuf. On the RE5 mater: The controls aren't an exclusive to the wii anymore (blame the ugly Waaaand), graphics will be awfull and co-op will be limited or woun't even be there, so why would it be a good game?? considering that the onlly thing that made RE5 a "good game" where its graphics and playing with a friend on co-op.
But well, we can't say a thing untill we see what comes out of this... if something comes out of this.

Why is everyone saying RE5 on the Wii would look awful there's nothing wrong with the RE4 level of graphics and RE0 had co-op to some level too you could control the second player with the c-stick, y'all some picky muthafckaz anything not HD equals epic fail to you, I think it's a sad state of the current generation more time goes into graphics than the actual story and gameplay, it's no wonder GT hasn't progressed past it's PSX fame now it's just lame and bland not mention the backgrounds and grass are still 2D cutouts and the car colors look like there limited to a 256 colour palette so it makes your eyes bleed with it's rich contrast, it doesn't even have immersive high speed motion blur like F1 06 yet it's touted as one of the PS3's best looking titles.

Everyone knows RE4: Wii Edition played like a dream, that's why people want to see a Wii Edition for RE5.
RE4 Wii Edition, yes... But if you didn't notice we are talking about RE5 here. This game will play horribly on Wii, and that's my opinion. What you or others think about it I could care less. RE5 on Wii will suffer framerate drops so severe that UC will look like a masterpiece. Count in motion sensing issues, no co-op, redesigned smaller chapters and you get "look like shit, play like shit" package in all SD glory. I think this engine will come in handy when HD Wii comes out. ONLY.

Btw, Big Stu, many people don't want to see RE5 Wii Edition. I don't give a shit if it's laser or a motion controlled reticule, and many people I know don't care too. If you want motion aiming you don't need a Wii. Soon we will get RE5 Dildo Edition to have fun with. From what I've seen, PS3's Dildo has huge potential.

Sacrifices to the core game would be made to work within those limitations. Those that want RE5: Wii Edition are willing to live with those sacrifices.

Resident Evil 4, REmake, and Resident Evil 0 all hold up remarkably well even by today's standards. If Capcom could make a Wii version of RE5 look at least as good as those, I don't think many people would have a problem with it. I know I wouldn't. And when you get a capable developer who knows how to push the Wii to its limits, then we would almost certainly get a game that looks at least as good as those, if not better.

Of course it's not going to look as good as its HD counterparts, but I hardly think that's an issue here. I'd much rather have a game that plays better and looks worse than a game that looks better but plays worse. But hey, I'm an old school gamer, so I tend to value gameplay over everything else.

Yes, I completely agree with this. My only issue here is when game developers don't do shit to try to improve graphics considering the system's limitations.

Games like Alone In The Dark for Wii are a bitchslap to Wii gamers (and I'm not even considering gameplay ), when the system has a lot of potential left: Take Umbrella Chronicles for example , that it's pretty decent graphics wise IMO, if I'm not wrong it uses ID Tech 4, Doom 3 engine which is not bad at all!

But I thought they don't want the Chronicles series? something about because 'its an rail shooter', ruined the original games and full of plotholes or something

I don't think they really want to play UC and DC, most of them are going to cry just because they want an equal treatment

And i think they're right about the equal treatment, i mean Capcom should be not multiplatform only when there is opportunity to make easy money, but always and with everyone.

The majority probably just bitches about the Rail Shooters when they are on a platform they don't have. I still fondly remember how some colleagues of mine wouldn't shut up about Time Crisis 4 on the PS3 ;D

Also, I don't think the statement that Umbrella Chronicles runs on idTech 3 is right (same goes for any other Resident Evil title listed on that list.) Not even sure what makes them believe that... People doing something as stupid as looking for file extensions that match or simple generic 3D formats? Beats me.

Anyway, the Wii is a more than capable machine at displaying "pleasant" graphics, it's just a matter of "how you do it" and "who does it."

Exactly. Sacrifices. I bet those will be terrible enough to spook even the most hardcore Wii fans. Again, that's my opinion. No offence meant to anyone, especially Wii fanboys.

Why would they be terrible? Why wouldn't it just look like RE4 again? Feel free to completely avoid this question though.

And what makes them fanboys? Just ownership of the console alone? WAY TO GO WITH THE PREJUDICE!!!1!1

Fanboys are people who are fanatically devoted, to the point of absurd, to whatever they are fans of. You know, there are PS3 fanboys, Wii fanboys, 360 fanboys, PC fanboys. They can get very aggressive over small things, so I said "no offence" to my pessimistic thoughts about Wii RE5. It seems you got quite overstimulated about this... Which makes you look like a Wii fanboy in my eyes.

Actually I own Wii myself. I own RE4 Wii, REUC and will get DSC. I like Wii, but I have my reasons, and right, to have negative opinion about RE5 Wii.

RE4 on Wii looked like GC version. No graphical degradation, no level redesign, no co-op issues. RE5 Wii will look much worse then RE5 PS3. RE5 is very effect "heavy" game. I think Wii will destroy all its beauty. I don't want to play RE5 at 10 fps with freezes and glitches on every turn. I can cope with graphics, but not with severe gameplay killing issues like that. My opinion - RE5 Wii will be a bad game, with bad graphics and lots of issues.

Big Stu, no need to type in caps. I have good vision. And look who's talkong about prejudice. You seem to be sure that RE5 Wii will rock.

What makes it look like i was "over-stimulated"? The fact that i have a different opinion to your own?

But yes, Wii fanboy over here, with all of my six games!

Again, where did i say that? As far as i can see all i've said is that RE4 controlled really well and there's no reason why RE5 on the Wii couldn't.

But why do you think it would "destroy" all its beauty. At worst the game would look like DSC (especially Operation Javier scenario) and that game doesn't look bad. I'm playing RE5 on a notebook with integrated gpu (Radeon HD3200) and even though all settings are set to middle-low and resolution is 800x480, the game still looks good and plays good and the only significant fps drops occur in the chamber with all those capsules, where you fight U-8.

And about gameplay sacrifices - I don't really know what would they remove. The only thing that I can think of is co-op, so you would be forced to play with AI Sheva, but that's it. The game plays exactly like RE4 (with more melee actions and inventory in real time); every level consist of a series of closed rooms (few are big, the rest is really small); apart from the Public Assembly level, there aren't even that much enemies on screen at once. As much as I like (love) RE5, it's a SD game in HD graphics. Gameplay wise there isn't really anything that couldn't be done on PS2 or GC, not to mention Wii.
