  • Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Previews + Gameplay Footage

A couple new previews for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles have appeared online. The first is from website Bitmob.com, entitled "Whoa, Resident Evil is Scary Again."

To read the article, follow this link.

Gametrailers has posted a video preview for the game here.

In addition, Gametrailers has uploaded a developer walkthrough that takes players through the beginning of the Antarctica portion of the CODE: Veronica scenario.

To watch the walkthrough, click here.

Finally, two gameplay videos from the same portion of the CV scenario have also been uploaded to Gametrailers.

    Part 1

    Part 2

Be sure to be on the lookout for a new 30-second long advertisement for the game that is popping up on various websites while you are waiting for a video to load. It shows several new CG scenes, focusing mainly on the various boss monsters players will encounter throughout the game. Once the video is uploaded online for ease of viewing, this news post will be updated with a link to it.

      Ahhhh!! *spazzes*

Thank you for posting! All the videos were very entertaining. I've noticed that the sound effects in this game are quite good, a definite improvement from Umbrella Chronicles. I love the way the zombies sound, especially. Very guttural and realistic.. (As far as zombie-realism gets, I suppose..) XD

The zombies in Darkside Chronicles make me think of the ones in Degeneration. The sound effects and animations are much more visceral.

          Spoiler:

I'm still a bit confused as to why all the Chris-related stuff has been kept under wraps. I have a feeling that if we even get to play as him, it will only be for one sub-scenario simply to kill Alexia. Something tells me that we won't even get a Chris scenario(s) on Rockfort, since there would be no one for him to partner with. If only Capcom would realize that things are more horrifying when you're alone...

I also have a hypothesis that we won't be getting any "side" scenarios with this game; the developers have hinted at this (less scenarios). This probably has to do with what I stated above about the lack of co-op in a one-player scenario (although two players could play a one-character scenario ala UC, there wouldn't be much dialogue going on). If this is the case, it'll be a shame - I would love a HUNK or Wesker scenario on Rockfort...

However, the lack of side scenarios is fine by me, provided the main scenarios are longer and more interesting when compared to those in UC.
          Mass production? Ridiculous!

That's basically what Kawata said in one interview. There were going to be fewer scenarios this time around, but to make up for it, each scenario would be significantly longer than the ones from UC.

I kinda like that fact that nothing has really been revealed about Chris and Wesker. I been trying to stay away from this stuff to be surprised and like that fact that one of the reviews said "Resident Evil is Scary Again."

I always interpreted their remarks on the number of scenarios as implying that there were only three in the game - Resident Evil 2, CODE: Veronica, and Operation Javier, compared to the four featured in Umbrella Chronicles: Zero, REmake, Nemesis and Russia.

Even if UC had a few short scenarios, the sheer variety was nice. Hopefully they maintain that with this game too.

I doubt there will be any extra scenarios. The three in the game (RE2, CV, Operation Javier) are apparently feature length, and much longer than the three-part Train Derailment, Mansion Incident, Raccoon's Destruction and Umbrella's End scenarios.

Not to mention an extreme amount of content, covering pretty much all the boss battles from the original games. RE2 basically combines the A and B scenarios as well.

The thing is that UC just featured summaries of the previous events, whereas DSC seems to be more than that. It's pretty much the entire games, but reimagined and from a different point of view.

But I will be a bit disappointed if there isn't any extra scenario, especially concerning Ada

If there was going to be another scenario, Capcom would've revealed it by now.

                      Three's your lot.

Yeah. I think the only scenario we didn't already know about by the time UC was released was Dark Legacy.

it all depends how long the scenarios are really are. in code:veronica part we already seen the entire first part in the original+-...starting with claire and steve meeting, meeting with alfred and alflexia, the "game house" where alfred trap them..and to antartica, nosferatu fight[we saw now start of it] up until where alexia wake up.

i just hope they give as much attention to alexia chris and wesker..none of them must actually be playable but they are no less of a key charecter in the game then those in the first part. the way it seems now theres gonna be one chapter in the antartic where we discover steve monster and kill alexia. lets hope its not the case

Yeah, but don't forget that the game will be released in japan two months later than us.

That's why, in my opinion, there wasn't much exclusive info regarding DSC in famitsu lately, or if Capcom didn't release any new trailer since the TGS.

Hey, the TGS premium trailer isn't even direct feed already whereas the game will be out in less than two weeks on the US market!

There are still contents we are not aware of.
