  • Resident Evil 5's engine.

Over at the Beyond3D forums, Member "one" has translated a conference from capcom where they spoke about their new multi-platform engine called "Framework". Its worth noting here because this is the engine which will power nearly all Capcom games including Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4 among others. Its pretty heavy in technical talk but a very interesting point was rasied, specifically that the engine could not only be adapted to Next Generation consoles but also the PC Platform. This raises speculation that Resident Evil 5 could make its way to the PC.

To read more head on over to the Beyond3D forums.

That's actually a very smart way of creating a multiplatform engine since it leaves a lot of room for hardware specific optimization. I guess this is what the analyst mistook by saying that development of the titles start out on PC's.

Good to hear that we're not going to see Renderware or UE3-esque type visuals. That's what I pictured when I heard of a multiplatform RE5.
