To me they feel like they do not belong. It seems like some sort of Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider setting that is forced into the RE5 story progression.
Honestly...look at the scenes/settings from the entire game...it flows along decently, with this jarring middle portion which could have been cut altogether.
Whaaaaat. The ruins (and the tribal areas in 3-1/3-2) are the best areas in the game. They were pretty atmospheric and I loved how unique they were in design compared to other Resident Evil games. Oil Refinery was meh though.
Yes, I was thinking about ruins in RE5 when I was writing that post. However, in ruins you have at least Tribal Majini popping from time to time and Bui Kichwa to shoot. Here, it is said, that there will be none enemies until you go to the basement/prison segment.
The one thing I am hoping for in the DLC episodes, since they are somewhat detached, menu-wise, from the main game, is that the firearms are not upgradable (and thus not related to the high-powered weaponry from everyone's previous RE5 playthroughs) and that there's no option for infinite ammo.

I think exactlly the same, and in my opinion the worst part of the game is the boat chapter (just after the ruins) and from there to the end the game is bad (except my favourite Wesker fight, before the flying ship takes off, that was just amazzing on professional).
