    So... let me get this straight;

We now have an Eastern European company making a game with a US setting for a Japanese company?
(Also, bet you five bucks that there'll be another important name missing in this one too; Jeremy Blaustein, to be precise.)

    This I gotta see

It will be an Eastern-European approach to Japanese approach to western horror

Why doesn't Komani stick to one damn developer so that they can make improvements? It's really annoying. Shattered Memories was an amazing revival and change that surprised pretty much everyone. It was a SH but then it wasn't. That's what I love about it.

Konami should have gone back to Double Helix or whatever they're called since by now, they've hopefully have improved a lot.

No offense to SH fans, but I'm guessing that Konami doesn't care about the series anymore, especially after Team Silent disbanded. Right after Yamaoka quit, it was the final straw for them, so its really a series where they are trying to make money off before it dies now.

Don't worry, because SH won't be alone. Michiru Yamane left Konami 2 years ago and with the company letting KojiPro handling Castlevania's reboot instead of Koji Igarashi, I can see Iga taking the same path of Yamoaka soon and let CV to rot under Konami.

^Konami also cancelled the direct sequel to SOTN in favor of the reboot.

Yeah. Silent Hill seems to be "dead", but I guess Konami's tossing it around a bit, hoping to find a studio that can ignite it again. So far, I think Climax's stuff's been steps in the right direction. Both Origins and Shattered Memories had the look/feel in place, but kinda borked it a bit on the gameplay front. One of the problems with Silent Hill as it is now is that they tried to cater to the movie fans (and casual crowd) with Homecoming and Origins was another "main plot" (in lack of a better term) game.

Continuation is like the least interesting aspect of Silent Hill, but then again, you can only really tell so many unrelated stories without things starting to get a bit stale.

I honestly don't believe Kojima Productions have anything (important) to do with Lords of Shadow. Probably nothing mention-worthy beyond having their logo slapped on it as a cheap sales device. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up seeing the same thing happen as soon as any proper reveal of this new Silent Hill game happens too. Besides, I'm pretty happy to see not only classic Castlevania art directions being back, but also Igarashi being being put to rest. Call me bitter, but I honestly think that Igarashi's done nothing good for the franchise (other than keeping it on life support for 10 years by relabeling the same games over and over again... but that's not a good thing, is it? Just like his timeline adjustments/retcons and creepy acceptance of design anachronism.)

And the sad thing is that Konami hired another new studio for the next game, instead of giving Climax another chance so they could improve upon their previous Silent Hill titles. Origins had crap story that wasn't fully neither about Travis, nor Alessa. Shattered Memories, on the other hand, had great story yet a so-so gameplay. If they could merge the gameplay from Origins and storytelling from Shattered Memories, and fix few problems, they could have done a really great game.

But now Vatra Games will once again start from the beginning.

Lords of Shadow is being make by MercurySteam and KojiPro, but we all know MercurySteam will be doing the bulk work while KojiPro act as the bells and whistles. I guess Konami gave up on Iga after he failed to shift the franchise into 3D form.

PES franchise = Overtake by EA's Fifa series
Home rhythm market (Rock Revolution & DDR) = destroyed by Rock Band & Guitar Hero

Contra and Yu-Gi-Oh are surviving through handhelds, and Love Plus (the only successful story besides MGS) is Japan-only. They are heavily relying on MGS franchise and their non-game businesses (slot machines etc).

imo they should have let Climax handle this again since they have the experience of the franchise. Perhaps they should learn a lesson or two from Capcom, who's doing exceptionally well this generation, being able to handle old franchises (Resident Evil, Street Fighter etc) and new franchises (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Monster Hunter etc) at the same time.

Yeah. Konami's not doing too great these days. It's as if all their franchises ceased to exist or something. Anyway, I see Lords of Shadow as the title that may make Konami appear on the map again as something a tad bit more than just "Metal Gear This" and "Metal Gear That". Also, I'm honestly not seeing where Kojima Productions fits into the mix. Their involvement with the project really reeks of after thought and I really am likely question that till the end of days. (I guess someone was afraid Kojima Productions would end up being synonymous with only Metal Gear, so they're probably now starting to slap other franchises under the same label. )

Anyway, seriously, this gen Konami's Pro Evo titles haven't stood up to Fifa, Iga's been making the same games over and over again with the same annoying formula (SURPRISE! AN INVERT CASTLE!), their European publishing is doing... something... (Contra 4, where are you?), Silent Hill's gotten the ugly stick (Yuck... Homecoming), DDR never was that big on the home front (and Universe did nothing to change that), Rock Revolution was too late (maybe they should've tried beating GH/RB to the punch, internationally, w/Guitar Freaks/Drum Mania sometime end of last decade) and I honestly can't even figure out what's happened to all their other stuff...

Oh well... at least the Rush 'n' Attack trailer for the XBLA/PSN game by the same studio that's doing the new Silent Hill looks promising. (Hey... does this mean that Silent Hill will be using U3 now? )

I might have missed it, but is Lords multiplatform? If it is I bet it's lead platform is PS3. KojiPro is purely production informative. As in they are probably giving MercurySteam the technical know how and support knowledge they got while working on MGS4 (and probably they latest work on Rising as well).

As for Silent Hill, I've been overly outspoken about the demise of Team Silent and the continued fall of the series since the Room, so I have little to say other than I'm not at all suprised. I however vote in making a new original game in the series rather than the potential rumor of rehashing Silent Hill 2 (in many aspects... again).

Lords of Shadow is multiplatform. Yes. It probably also runs on whatever powered Cliver Barker's Jerichio (which was noticeably visually impaired on the PS3 when compared to its 360 counterpart). And... Kojima Productions giving input on a technical level? If so... that would have to be nothing but an absurdly long list of how to not do things (seriously, the MGS4 engine is such a non-salvageable train wreck).

^ I doubt that they're running the same engine as Jericho based on the media released.

I don't know what problem you had with the game, but with provided the game doesn't require an install for every chapter like MGS4 did, I think they did well with the visuals and enviroments.

Considering other developers working on the PS3 have shared so much (check the thanks credits for the Uncharted titles and God of War 3), I'm sure they're happy having someone working with them that has a completed PS3 title that looked good (still probably in the top 5).

I think it was in an EDGE article on LoS that KojiPro's involvement was detailed. Every couple of weeks, MercurySteam send a build to Kojima and a select few other people at KojiPro, who then play through it and give some feedback/ideas. Outside of that, it's very much MercurySteam's title and Konami/KojiPro are letting them do what they want.
