  • Dead Rising 2 - E3 2010 Trailers!

    Finally, a YouTube upload!

    In our E3 Discussion thread the other day, I spoke of a new Dead Rising 2 trailer being up on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Not just any Dead Rising 2 trailer either, but the first proper trailer and information for the Xbox 360 exclusive Xbox LIVE Arcade Prologue for the game --it's like a glorified demo of sorts. Like many of us feel Lost in Nightmares could've been to Resident Evil 5-- and, well, now there are finally other sources available for it;

    There's a new Dead Rising 2 trailer too, one which I'm sure some of you will get some sort of a laugh out of or feel like was intended as a massive slap in the face (for all the wrong reasons):

    Enjoy!

    Well Case 0 looks good to me I also like the fact you can carry the stats over to the main game definitely looks better than I was expecting it to be as far as a glorified demo goes like you said . . .

    EDIT:
    That Cash me if you can looks like hell of an easy way of generating cash that would surely have to have a limited number of uses otherwise why bother with the rest of the missions etc?

      I think that is a fine progression on how to do a Demo by creating a proogue with extra add-on features to the main game, at a reasonable price and good value for your money. Still looking forward to playing this game when it hits retail.

        Has a price been noted for it yet?

        Looks brilliant. I'd expected just an area from the main game enclosed with a bit of story tacked on, but Capcom are really doing things properly by the look of the trailer.

          Don't think there's ever been talks of a concrete price point yet. Knowing Capcom... there's really no way to tell what this thing will evt. cost.

          My guess?

          Anything from 400 MS points to 1600 MS points. (My money's on 800, but I think 1200 MS points isn't too unlikely either.)

          Also, speaking of stuff carrying over; Lost Planet 2's Versus demo unlocks the Machine Gun SP in the full game.

            Ok now is there any real reason why the prologue is exclusive? It' not even tied to the first Dead Rising so that's really a dumb move.

              Is there ever a real reason? Why would they start needing one now?

                Maybe because the prologue is part of the game? Why even bother releasing DR2 to the PS3 if you're going to cut content from it?

                  As far as potential relevance to Dead Rising 1 and the exclusive question goes... let's avoid another "WHY IS JILL DEAD!?!?!1111!??!!!!???"-incident. You know, like the one we had pre-RE5, when the tombstone was shown and people went all nuts over lack of all the details. (I kinda hate that in game trailers these days, by the way. The fact that trailers "have to" spoil almost all the surprises.)

                  And as far as the prologue part of it goes. If it really was THAT important, it'd be there. It was not like Lost in Nightmares HAD TO be in Resident Evil 5. You got more than enough information out of the flashback.

                  Fact remains; you don't know what'll be in Case: 0 and you don't know what'll be in Dead Rising 2. Save any potential complaining relevant to the content part of it all for later ;)

                    Hmm no I won't. If Case 0 was simply a demo I wouldn't really care but there's story in there. It's obvious that there is a connection with DR2 more than 1 so leaving it exclusive is just stupid.
                    DR1 may not be even relevant to the sequel except "it happened before... somewhere else" but Case 0 surely is or they wouldn't release it with the DR2 logo. I suppose if sales are good enough on the PS3 they could decide to release it later on as DLC but it's probably unlikely.
                    And considering the sales of RE5 I don't see why they wouldn't "risk" it with this.

                      There's a two year gap between Dead Rising and Case 0, followed by another 3 years before Dead Rising 2.

                      Dead Rising 1's story is very much relevant to the franchise setup and how things are obviously being done in case 0 and DR2;

                      Dead Rising 1's ending "twist" is that tenfolds of orphans were deliberately infected with a sleeper variation of the virus, to then be put up for adoption to parents around all of the US, acting as ticking time bombs. Frank also creates a substance to temporarily slow down his own infection.

                      Case 0 trailer reveals that at least Chuck's daughter is somehow infected (whether she's one of the originals or have been infected through some other means remains to be seen). A zombie outbreak occurs in Las Vegas (first outbreak since DR1, two years earlier). Clearly, Chuck is either in the Las Vegas area or somewhere else where there is an outbreak going on too (time bombs starting to go off, maybe he's at the real site of origin for the Las Vegas outbreak?). He seemingly gets stranded with his daughter there, probably w/out any zombrex for his daughter. Guess the game builds itself around a tiny time frame of getting her back on zombrex or something before you get a "THE END"

                      Dead Rising 2 picks up 3 years after Case 0. No clue what's going on, but you're in Vegas and all hell's broken loose (Guess Vegas is under control... or at least was. Given all the talk about gameshows and stuff, both for single player and multiplayer). I hear some people talk about cash supposedly being needed to buy *stuff* and zombrex. End of the captivate trailer probably refers to Case 0 when it plays the clip of Chuck saying he knows his way around a zombie or two. Seems like Chuck is also getting blamed for something (maybe people are pointing at his daughter 'cause of the Las Vegas outbreak, since he was in the area when it occured?)

                      As far as I can see (based on what we know so far), there's almost less of a relevant connection between Case 0 and Dead Rising 2 (other than shared main cast), than there probably is between the events of Dead Rising 1 and Dead Rising 2.

                        I love game demos and almost never buy a full priced game without playing a demo first, so this kinda super demo/prologue seems like the best idea ever. I'd gladly pay $5 bucks for it, ($10 if they really try hard.)

                        I just hope more games are advertised like this, as long as the concept stays pure and they don't start trying to charge us for things like the old standard demos. I think this concept will help build hype as well as bring them a little extra money for something they kinda gave away for free.

                          Case 0 Exclusive for Xbox Live? WTF??? that's not fair.

                            Shared main cast is more of a connection than anything DR1 set up before.
                            Whatever happens in Case 0 is obviously revelant to DR2 or it wouldn't be a prologue.
                            I can live without playing the first one but Case 0 is a prologue of DR2. It being exclusive for 1 single platform is not fair no matter how you twist it.

                              Hey Alkar, you could probably get a friend who has an Xbox and play it with him/her.

                              Or, if you are an anti-social person, you could probably find a complete walkthrough video online.
