I can't vouch for the instance of being surrounded by zombies BUT it is damn impossible to hold a kid with one arm without holding them like that. Maybe more at the top of the thigh rather than right on the buttocks but otherwise your arm is gonna give and they're gonna slide down/fall in no time . . .

Depends, I don't personally know which ending is canon so I guess it depends on that one but he's bound to pop up, as for the kid she's probably not about as a NPC too much if at all since that would probably raise all kinda hell of negative publicity if she can be eaten/killed by zombies/etc . . .
