I wouldnt say its pointless since its bringing money to capcom.
I think that the cards are a good idea although I doubt they will ever be a hit like pokemon and other similar types of card based games. I dont mind these little bits of merchandise that capcom brings out, its not like they are forcing us to buy it really. Although I agree that I did expect to have seen more news on Revelations by now and am more than a little dissapointed that I haven't.

Although Revelations wont be out for a while yet since capcom stated that they weren't planning to release the game this fiscal year (so we wont be seeing it until after march 2011

      Message to everyone complaining:

If you don't like the cards, ignore them. You don't have to come in here and complain about them.

Sure to derail a topic about RE cards with complains about the abscence of news about an actual game it's not how it works.

I think it's more a case of people are gonna bitch regardless, no matter what. I'm pretty sure if Capcom announced RE6 comming out next week and 1.5 going up the Playstation Network and 360 live for free a few people would complain RE6 is rushed and 1.5 taken too long.

As is there right and privilidge, of course.

Still, this does seem an odd to irritate people so. They've done a collectable card thing before, none of the grunts from the games will be working on it so it's not causing any delays, Capcom aren't putting any money in themselves only making it. And it's not as though we're even getting to Hello Kitty levels of merchandising yet. Back massager indeed...

I'm not really complaining about the cards, but rather think this is something that does not fit. To me, card games are things that involve magic, strategy, minions...Things of that nature. Now, granted the Resident Evil card game will require strategy; I just don't think it would be much fun. "Chris uses the magnum. -90 HP." "Wesker uses Thrust Punch. -120 HP." Pokemon/Magic the Gathering just have a wide array of places to. They can come up with all sorts of magical moves or Pokemon moves. I just think Resident Evil is rather limited with what they can and can't do to make the card game decent. Does that make sense? Final Fantasy, I think, would work well in this fashion.

I will buy a pack just to see what they actually look like though. I am curious to see the finished product.

Of course there are completely separate(The brands / Groups of people to make the games, and then this crap), but even the gaming side of it is turning to crap... All those crappy Resident Evil Mobile Phone games, then you have expensive merchandise (Action figures, vials..etc) THEN to top it off, now this! A Trading Game for RESIDENT EVIL? This isn't freaking Pokemon...they are turning the franchise itself, into a freakin joke
(Note this is coming from a resident evil fan, who has played every since one from the First, to current)

Complaining about a freaking card game that doesn't affect the games? You're free to do so, but... okaaaaaaay!

Well, this was presented by Bandai not Capcom. Wait for TGS next month, though, I don't think we'll see anything RE related there besides Revelations and *possibly* another upcoming new title (can't see RE6 being announced just yet, but who knows...).

I dont understand why this is being associated with the likes of a card game such as Pocket Monsters. (And even so, it's not the only one that exists. Ex: Magic the Gathering, Call of Cthulu, plenty of zombie and psy-horror themed games)

But if I assume correctly, this wont be your typical "trading" card game, it may actually be like the old fantasy adventure games(oh there's even a card-based adventure game that exists where you are fending off zombies and mutants in the mall), where the board is set up to be the Spencer Mansion with 4 players; you roll dice or draw cards to determine actions, fight enemies, and build up gold to buy weapons, armor, accessories. I mean makes sense to me.

The cards look interesting to me and upon their release I plan to buy some as soon as I can. It just looks to me like they're cashing in this franchise for all it's worth before the release of RE6 and as much as I hate sellouts, I can't deny that these cards do actually look interesting. There's loads of possibiliities that can be done with these cards from pokemon style play to like someone else said, "A 4 player stragety based board game." Quite honestly, I approve of this idea, because that means with the extra money Capcom will earn from Bandai from not having to put any money of their own into the cards they will be able to put a higher budget into RE 6 and other games they plan to release on the side in the meantime. On that subject, I wish a new side game for RE was released for the bigger consoles instead of solely focusing on the portables, possibly even making one with Rebecca, Barry, or even an appearance of Billy in it. That's just my two cents.

Lack of new artwork means no sale. I would never play these so a display in a folder with other card sets was its only value to me.
