Does rebuying the untold stories pack mess with your DLC save at all? I've bought them individually way back when.

Yeah, and then let people pass the disc around to as many people as they want to. Capcom would let that happen.

i would rather have 1 disc go around to determine whether the content is worth it to be people than waste money they'll never get back on something that isn't.

Not entirely sure what the codes in the Gold Edition are, but if I've understood it right, it's got a code for Versus and Untold Stories (and Extra Figures -which is free- must be downloaded separately).
Unless they updated the disc to just contain the final version of Versus + evt. Extra Figures and the pack-in is just for Extra Figures...

I'll probably know later, since I'm probably grabbing a PAL Gold Edition for the 360 sooner or later (to go with my regular and steelcase initial releases).

Not checked yet, but I don't think it should have any effect on anything. (Only thing I'm hoping is that the audio sync is fixed/better for Desperate Escape, since at least when I played through a few times on the stand alone pack on the 360, the audio kept falling out of sync during the intro cutscene.)

Yeah. Borderlands, Oblivion and Fallout 3 are all good samples on DLC discs that're just passed around to give everyone free DLC. Don't really see that happening to RE5 "yet" (wouldn't be surprised if we'd see such a release, though). The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition had the solution of letting you play the DLC -stand alone- via disc 2... which, quite honestly, was kinda annoying and tedious (It's also kinda funny how poorly they labeled the discs and how it pretty much just lists available stuff via the new game menu as if it was just scanning a set of folders for available campaigns or something.)

In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd managed to somehow mysteriously squeeze all the Resident Evil 5 DLC in on the main disc if they absolutely wanted to. They worked some sort of digital magic on the Lost Planet disc when they released Colonies Edition.

Not only was the Colonies Edition disc 200mb smaller than the original version's disc, but it also contained the DLC maps for the initial release (650mb-ish DLC in total), a pile of new models for pretty much everything (player chars, VS, weapons, Akrids, etc.), some new game modes and a fistful of new maps exclusive to Colonies Edition. Though, I guess what wizardry they performed there might've already been in action on Resident Evil 5.

              Who was phone?
(In all seriousness: Passing a disc like that around would not only be illegal, but also bad for business. Everytime a non-purchase user shows up with it, you'd pretty much be one step closer to: "There goes $5~15... Guess we'll never do this again... since we're getting ever so closer to being officially broke/bankrupt :/")

sucks for them then. if they go bankrupt at least i'll have control over content i have in physical format vs. digital.

                  Branden Lucero v Capcom.

Capcom going bankrupt because they wouldn't put content on a disc. hahahaha this kid never fails to amuse.

I think he meant that he's concerned about when these DLC's are no longer available to download. It would certainly be nice if we could create a hard copy of some kind for when they finally do get removed.

IF they ever get removed though. It's all speculation that they might ever be removed. Sony/Microsoft etc aren't going to be disappearing anytime in the next 50 years so who knows!

Honestly, I'd be shocked if we could download them ten years from now. A couple of console generations and they're gonna be costing more to keep online than they make, and then they'll be gone.

That's your problem then, no one elses. I'm flattered, but i'd prefer you to reply with anything on-topic?

Moon, it's hard to say what the costs will be that far ahead in the future. As data continues to grow with every generation of machines, the size of current DLC will be peanuts.

Maybe. But if those peanuts don't pay...

If bandwidth costs keep in line with the growth in data, the chance of profit (no matter how minimal) should still be there. Look at games from ten years or so ago now perhaps. Those games still pick up fans to this day. Resident Evil will inevitably be the same for a few decades to come yet.

It's going to come down in one way or another to customer loyalty to. Whether the big dogs like EA or Capcom believe the content to be relevant enough to need continued stocking on their servers.

If people have paid for their item, they should NEVER be refused access to it at any point. So it might even be an issue for trading standards to even look into.
