He is, IMO, the Alice of the RE game series. He's also an American James Bond, and there can only be one Bond damn it!

Leon is the main male again aw come on Capcom have you's not milked enough from Leon already you know there are other charaters out there I would like see again like Billy' Barry hell evan Carlos I mean im getting tired of seeing Leon (and Chris evan thou he most likely not in this film) it just feel like Capcom are not taking risks anymore with haveing other male characters from other Resident Evil games have a chance in the spotlight.

But im hopeing this film will have learned from errors they made in Degeneration and improve on them like the lip syc and graphics and give us more BOW and maybe make the film abit longer and we have another good CGI Resident Evil film.

I guess the reason Leon is the starting character of this movie, is because; Capcom also wants to attract more people to buy the movie, not just the fans; and for more reason Leon, an known character from the previous movie, so more people can related to him.

Great news. Hope they build on what they did with Degeneration. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed Degeneration but it was far from perfect. To be fair to them it was their first movie so I kind of forgave them for its flaws. Now they have to work on them and make a bigger and better film. I hope this has a very good plot, twists, more cameos and they give Leon a personality.

Of course, in my world both the CGI and Live Action RE movies will be finished and there budget put to making new episodes of Firefly...

Could be good. Could be rubbish. 2012 is still a ways off yet.
Voices of reason instead of blind admiration for something people havent even seen yet. Degen was better than the Anderson films, but that doesnt exactly take much. Leon and Alice are pretty much the same as far as pulling off shit that is pretty much impossible, yet people seem to excuse Leon for it because he's from the games (perhaps not around here where hunting Leon's pelt is a popular passtime).

I'd like to see what Capcom has in store before I start leaking fangirl juice like other people seem to be doing. Its fine to be excited, but going in to something with stars and sparkles in your eyes, you ignorantly fail to see any glaring problems with it. Honestly...I dont think I'd enjoy another movie of Leon hanging by one leg with a person and a monster clinging to him while flying around in the air. Or more monotone, emotionless grunts about duty and how people go about living their lives. If the producers actually give any other characters some decent screen time with real action, I may be pleased. But I'll wait until we have something tangible.

An obvious tie in to Resident Evil 6! I'm hoping for character cameos. Any of the surviving STARS members, or even Sheva Alomar. We haven't seen Claire in a advancing storyline game, so I hope she gets a nod up in 6. I actually prefer Claire over Leon.

Ha, ha, no. Leon had one moment where he backflips through lasers. Alice fried birds and people with her f***ing mind. Not. Even. Close. As a matter of fact, Leon actually shows weakness because he gets tossed around like a f***ing ragdoll all through RE4. When was the last time Alice had jack shit done to her to make her look human?

Anyway, it's nice that they've decided to do another movie, though I do share some of the concerns expressed in this thread regarding lip-synch, robo-Leon, and my much larger concern of pacing and story. Can we please have the zombies be a threat (if they appear) for more than the first thirty minutes? And if there is another character from the game series, can they have a bigger role than Claire got in Degeneration (I felt she was shafted because some moron felt they had to include the nobody that was Angela).

It describes Claire babysitting skills perfectly, so the movie could be about that

The press release pdf capcom posted talked about the RE live action movies. Not to mention they released the info to the press right after RE:Afterlife's opening weekend.

Makes me wonder if the $380 million profit Sony made had any influence on Capcom greenlighting this sequel to Degeneration (whom sony pictures also published).

To sum it up Capcom's making him a one-note cliche' of a character after Resident Evil 2.

Government agent Leon sent out on missions by the President to scrub viruses and such from terrorists all over the world. With his flips and leaps the man prevails only to save a girl at the end and ride home happy. Mission Accomplished.

I'm sure people like this formula with such colorful side characters as Ada, Hunnigan and Krauser....but at some point it gets tiring.

The only way I see this movie working out is if they tied up the Ada storyline since we have no idea what she's been up to after their involvement in RE4.

This is why I would have preferred the more emotional ending of Darkside Chronicles where...Spoiler:

But alas, unless RE6 does something with Claire outside of babysitting I think they're pretty much rehashing formulas. The same goes for the next Chris and Jill partner adventure. And I hope this movie might break away from that.

Way to completely not read my post fully. I never once mentioned anything Leon did in the games, but his insane actions in Degen. On top of what I already mentioned, Leon gets slammed across a giant open space and slams into a large steel box, then jumps up and runs as if it was nothing. He shakes off any attack (that actually hits him) with grace and ease in Degen. Perhaps you should pay more attention to what my post said, and perhaps rewatch Degeneration. Or download and listen to the RPD podcast. I'm pretty sure others tore apart and criticized Leon's outragous actions as well.

Oh...and your self censoring is great. Let your balls drop and either use the 'bad words' or dont use them at all.

I didn't think Degeneration was as bad as everyone made it out to be. I enjoyed it for a short, CGI-festival with characters that I (kind of) care about. Leon was LOL-tastic as always, and Claire was pretty useless, but I only watched it once and from what I remember, it was okay...other than the fuckin' G-monster having feelings at the end.

Like people have said, 2012 is far away.
