  • Resident Evil Extinction Trailer

So the other day i went to see the new movie Ghost Rider and the previews started up and BAM the trailer for the new Resident Evil movie showed up as well as the offical site launching http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/r...ion/index.html Also bloody-disgusting.com reports that

"Well, we can confirm that the official teaser trailer is heading online for Sony Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Extinction as I just saw it before painfully toughing through Ghost Rider (sigh). After the credits we saw that the official website for the film has gone live, so keep your eyes posted there over the weekend for the trailer. Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive"

Now, I could forgive the shortcomings of RE1, it was a good film if you could accept it wasn't trying to be RE1(Game). RE2 on the other hand, as most would agree fell apart at the seams in an attempt to appease the fanbase. You'd think that they would have at least taken a step back, looked at the current RE releases and their stories and come up with something that doesn't butcher the folklore any more than they already have whilst throwing in their own stuff to add "fluff".

Instead we're stuck with Zombies in a friggin' desert, and as far as I can tell the world is under viral attack from the agent released in Raccoon City. Now can anyone else see the quite obvious plot flaw there? AND NO SIENNA GUILLORY! I'm crying inside.

That said, I'll watch it and wax lyrical or slag off accordingly when it hits the intern... cinemas. My judgement is reserved but it's not looking good.

ps. I fear the worst, they've tried to squeeze Wesker in as a NON-main character.

I feel so alone in my love of the second film, i thought it was way better than the first. Hopefully this one will be just as good.

I was utterly disappointed when I saw RE in theaters the day it came out, and RE Apocolypse is a bit too cheesy IMHO (Nemesis looks like a walking action figure), but this third (and hopefully final) RE film looks like it's going to be worthwhile. It was also a welcome, pleasent surprise that Paul Anderson's punk ass won't be directing this film.
                I'm a blackstar.

I completely forgot that he wasnt directing this one, but he is the producer (for Castlevania and Driver game-to-movie productions also). Until I see the trailer myself rather than hear tall tales from all ends of the earth where Alice teams up with the Power Rangers or something, I think I'll keep my judgement on standby.

Ok, if I put aside my inane ability to pick faults in movies, I'm very tempted to go see this now. Now if there was only a way to rid myself of my RE knowledge for a day so I could enjoy it ...

Paul Anderson isn't directing? Wow, didn't know that. I guess that makes my previous comment useless.

Still though, the story on the big screen is totally botched at this point. Me & mine will be boycotting the movie. I heard Sony has obtained the rights to a Metal Gear Solid movie, but given the track record of adaptations of video games to the big screen, I'd almost rather that not even happen at all. Who knows what kind of shit will be introduced once it's "Hollywoodized".

You have a point, even with Kojima at the helm, it could swing either way :E
