And still, I've heard no actual confirmation on disc release for these in the states. And no gaming website has posted a correction on the story that the games will see a disc release outside of Japan.
And did the people complaining even read this news story or skim it? Questioning why the 360 won't get Archives is absurd when the story, itself, states that the technology used to give Japanese gamers the Japanese Archives (meaning none of this even likely applies to you) is Sony owned. I seriously think people just come to this site now to complain even when it has no effect or relevance on them.

And I'm not interested in Archives anyway, a digital book has no value to me.

To be honest they are both crap pre-order bonuses unless you can read japanese.

True. But the PDF's or whatever they are still certainly more interesting in Japan, where they're actually being released, than a Market Place skin. Even if I owned the books already I'd likely get the digital versions anyway. Just because the Xbox is so...naff. Might just be me though.

I'm getting both versions and you know which bonus is actually more relevant to me? The avatar outfit. I don't see the point in anyone complaining unless they are getting the Japanese versions and the items are actually useful. Japanese Archives is not useful if you don't know Japanese.
No reason to argue how unfair it is for other people as I'm sure they'll decide what version they want regardless of the Pre-Order bonus. Seriously, I'm more disappointed there is no collectors set for Xbox - but then there can't be since the old games were never released for an Xbox. Likewise, the program enabling PS3 owners to access Digital Archives is Sony technology, why is it a big deal that 360 owners can't access that? Most people are likely buying the games for the games, not the crappy pre-orders.
Side-note - "not fair of Capcom" is BS. They don't HAVE to give out any extras with the games. They are doing so and both are items using exclusive console features. But don't act like people are getting screwed over because of the different FREE add-ons. That's just absurd.Last edited by TheDevilBringer; 08-07-2011, 08:49 PM.

No, they don't have to give out freebies - but if you do, it should at least be equal for both platforms. I honestly don't see why Capcom couldn't have included enough stuff in the 360 bundle to make it remotely worthwhile - enough Avatar gear to make several costumes, unique gamer images, even some exclusive trailers for the upcoming games would have been nice. That doesn't seem like a terribly hard concept to me, but Capcom seems to love to shaft one console or another sometimes. The whole Dead Rising 2 fiasco where PS3 users couldn't get whole chunks of the story being an obvious one. And no, I didn't think that was very fair either.
And, yes, for us Gaijin scum the Archives is fairly irrelevant. It's in Japanese. On the other hand, in Japan, where this edition is released...it's probably very relevant. Since they do speak Japanese in Japan. Not that the PS3 version wouldn't have sold more in Japan anyway - as I understand it, brand loyalty means that the 360 is distinctly second place over there - but I can't imagine this won't have an effect on the sales there.

You seem to be blaming Capcom for minor things like it's a huge deal. If the 360 version offered an absurd amount of avatar items (each sold separately) or exclusive trailers - would it not be a form of favortism? It's as if the only fair solution is the exact same pre-order or none whatsoever. Which isn't true as it's an extra to begin with. And this is not exclusive to Capcom nor nearly as bad as something like Arkham City which has exclusive pre-order outfits and challenge packs depending not on the platform but on the retailer you get the game from.
Also, you mention DR2. I enjoyed Case Zero but many complained that it was a glorified demo that cost money. Were Case Zero or West truly relevant to DR2's narrative? Absolutely not. Should you complain over PS3 not getting them? Not really since the first upset a lot of people and the later one makes little sense if you never played DR1 which isn't available on PS3. The systems are different. Often the games have differences (some minor, some major) but if your biggest complaint is a pre-order BONUS not being "fair" (despite the "better" one being useless to you) then, honestly, it seems like you just want a reason to complain.

Well....yes, I am going to blame Capcom for stuff like this. I'm assuming an army of Sony VP's didn't descend on Capcom HQ armed with Blades of Ultimate Emasculation to make this bargain, and Capcom has chosen to do this of it's own free will. I agree, the Batman crap where you apparently have to buy twenty copies of the game to get all the stuff is more annoying by far, but that doesn't mean I have to like this.
I should make this clear - I never intended to get Revival. Either a digitial copy or an import copy. I have no interest in the games whatsoever - I own two different copies of each at this point, and feel no need to own a third with slightly improved graphics, so my irritation is purely me thinking this doesn't seem right.
Yes, ideally both games would have the same (or at least very similar) bonus material. If that can't happen due to, say, one set of bonuses using exclusive software the other can't, then they should at least try and be roughly equal. I'm not really sure why people seem to think that's so unreasonable of me, honestly. Shouldn't Capcom give a multi-platform release the same incentive on both systems?
I mean, surely people will be understandably annoyed if Resident Evil 6 comes with an extra bonus scenario that shows the 'truth' behind some of the mysteries in the series, but it's only released on one console? Or allows you to play through the game as a different set of characters? Or the like. Where the other system gets a couple of Avatar pictures. Yes, it's bonus stuff...but anyone with both systems is going to go straight for the version with all the cool shit, whereas anyone who only has one and it isn't the system with the big bonus content is going to feel, justifiably in my opinion, shafted. Why should they miss out because they only own one system, which Capcom had decided to offer less support to?

I don't think it's unresonable as much as I think it's irrelevant. You use RE6 bonus scenario as an example but a game play mechanic is far different then these minimal bonuses. I mean, your claim about the fairness is really more opinionated. It's user preference. I own both Archive books (as I'm sure the majority of people ever interested in them and reserving this game do) so why would I care for digital copies I, likely, can only access through the PS3? Some people may. But those copies will never be worth as much as physical copies. At least the Avatar outfit is a neat little freebe that I can equip and forget about. It'll serve more of a purpose to me then crappy text that I can only access digitally. My point is NOT "the Avatar outfit is better", it's "this is more a matter of opinion based on relevance to the buyer".
Truth be told, no bonus has to be equal and it's not solely Capcom's fault. They couldn't do the digital Archives for 360... so PS3 owners should be forced to miss out? PS3's HOME system is very different in style and useage of Avatar's then 360 (they don't even offer same clothing options across systems) so should 360 lose free Avatar items until a similar equivalent is available on PS3? No. They're competing platforms that generally pay for different exclusives. With the RE collectors set (obviously exclusive to PS3) it would make sense to offer something that showcases the History of these games whereas 360 which only has RE5 before this is offering a feature that is more of a bonus for 360 users in general since Avatars have become a mandatory element on the platform. Some people will prefer one of these items over the other, some will prefer neither. This isn't just the fault of Publishers or Developers but the consoles themselves'.
I do not think you being disappointed is unreasonable but I think your rational in solely blaiming Capcom and your treating of your opinion that one item is hands down better then the other is irrational and irrelevant since you don't have any intention to buy these releases in any way.
None of that is meant offensively but people spend so much time complaining about what they believe to be right or wrong when it has no relevance on them since they had no intention of evening buying (or watching, playing, etc) it as opposed to the actual people that are reserving it and have been given options (assuming you own both systems - if you don't, you should accept by now exclusives exist and a non-gameplay related freebe doesn't matter at all since you should be buying the game, not the Pre-Order bonus).Last edited by TheDevilBringer; 08-09-2011, 08:18 PM.
