I can't stand Chris Redfield anymore. He was cool in RE1 and Code Veronica, even the first beta trailer of RE5, but there is something about him I just can't stand anymore. I don't know what it is. It could be his voice actor, or the fact that they put huge biceps on him, or whatever. The coolness about him has been lost in my eyes.
Maybe because there was always a certain realism about him, a realism that is no longer there.

I couldnt resist, it took me a day and a half to make this random toon but it was worth it. Enjoy. The RE: Revelations trailer just needed a Parody.

What ever happened to "pure horror game"?
Does anyone else besides me think that Capcom has an "Action Fixation?" Like, they are addicted to action that they can't let go of it at all. It's really looking like the game is half horror, half Resident Evil 5.
They just don't seem to fucking get it, excuse my language. Even when their fans tell them whats wrong with the series.

Eeeh why people always wants to forget that the originals also had "action"? If the game only consisted of exploration and a few enemies here and there it'd suck. Going back to survival horror doesn't mean they have to replicate the formula from the original exactly like that game, otherwise it'd be unoriginal and get boring real quick.
Sometimes I think people only associate suvival horror with a) fixed camera angles and b) bad voice acting lol. It's so much more than that... for one you have the confined areas, exploration, limited ammo, atmospheric locales (lighting, the right music, etc)... so far judging by gameplay videos and trailers seem to be spot on.

The problem is the action has been over-done and so it's understandable that gamers want it to be toned down drastically.
Frankly the idea of good survival horror in RE for me is to avoid confrontation and only use it as a last resort. In RE3 you should be running from Nemesis and outsmarting him. In REmake you should be trying to burn zombies and run from crimson heads hoping that if you have to use your gun you land a head shot.
But let's be fair. This series did have it's fare share of action. But it needs to be kept as minimal as possible. A rocket launcher at the end? Sure. Occasional bullet time cut scenes? Why not? Unlocking heavy powered guns for a future play through? You earned that luxury.

What Capcom needs to do with Resident Evil is worry about gameplay, and not the story. They should do what they did with the very first game. Make a good game, and put the story in later. Work on making the game as horror as possible, and appealing, then craft a story into it.
They are so worried about the damn story, that ironically, they are ruining the story and the gameplay as well. It's not Resident Evil anymore. And to make it worse, the story has to be corny as hell, and yes, it has a lot of MGS in it now. The very first thing I picked up on, in this game, is the Item Scanner. Why? Who the hell needs it? It's such a waste of time. If the items are going to be there anyway, then what is the point? Why put the player through un-necessary crap?
