Resident Evil Revelations Site Update

The official web site for Biohazard Revelations has been updated with the additional page for the lady who was shown previously. According to the new update her name is "Rachel". Check out the link for a rendered picture of her.

The update also introduces some elements which includes knife attack, melee attack system, a new counterattack system as well as an escape/dodge system. It is also stated that this will be the first Biohazard title to have Japanese voice actings.

I missed this one out initially, but the site also confirmed that the game will be split into episode/chapter style. A short video will play before each chapter to summarize the story of previous chapters you have played through.

Considering the unveiled image was of this girl attacked (and gruesomely at that) part of me wants to know if Capcom is pulling a fast one and trying to make her out as some important character in the story when in all likelihood she'll be about as important as Robert Kendo and Dan DeChant.

Yeah, they do seem to think that's clever. I have no idea why. 'Look, isn't it shocking we killed this person off after all this build up?' No, because you do it a lot. Kill off someone whose been in more than one game and I'm more impressed...and no, I'm still suspicious you're gonna try and pull some bullshit with Wesker.

They tried that with Jill in RE5. No one bought the hype. My question is do the character designs and melee mechanics give you hope for a horrifying experience? To me it just looks like more of the same from RE4 and 5. Taking away the new characters I just have to look at Chris and Jill. The returning leads. How the years have changed them.

Couldn't tell you really, I wonder if it has anything to do with simply trying to make it more accommodating to Japanese consumers?

It's a pretty big milestone for the series I think! So, why now and why this game? Were Japanese fans requesting this for awhile? That might be the case. Resident Evil is way more popular in the west than the east, right?

While not a game, Degeneration also had Japanese voice acting, though I suppose that makes more sense.
