From that chick who's name I already forgot because she was expendable (and forgettable), now this?

Seriously, even Ada Wong's Chinese dress looks more appropriate then that. What the heck is going on at Cap's art department recently?

The lighting have to be the same on the character when you are making comparison, because it plays a big role.In FACT there are minimum difference between two models.

        On topic:I love Chris's render.
Jessica...shame,capcom.I actually kinda liked Jessica from the start, now it kinda ruins it.

I've always noticed that it seems to be Jill's hairstyles that make her nose look big or normal. Umbrella Chronicles/Remake Jill she looks fine and it I think it's mainly because of how her hair frames her face. In Resident Evil 5/Revelations it is always in a ponytail and pulled away from her face, so it does give an illusion of being bigger (though I think the newer renditions of Jill do have a slightly larger nose).

As for costumes/outfits, they usually always are impratical for the female characters. Usually the males are in some sort of uniform, fully-clothed and fairly bulky. You seldomly see a thinner male character sparsely dressed unless it is a villain. I think it really just boils down to the marketing. Most people who play video games are male, and most males want to see the boobs and the legs. Case and point: We have Jessica wearing a rather busty suit showing her legs (in this case: leg).

As for Resident Evil 3 Jill, I have truthfully never understood that from a character point of veiw. Pretend we are Jill, and we are going to go out to fight the world of the undead in a mini-skirt and tube top? Jill being a S.T.A.R.S. member, you just think she would be more prone to wear something that would hold ammunition/supplies, and have a bit of protection. Though, I'll brush it off to stress...

Its the head. They made the head smaller but kept the nose pretty much the same size. That's why the nose looks bigger.

In RE5 they did change things (minimal or not, it had a noticeable effect). Jill's chin was shaved down a bit in size. Not as square-is as before. I noticed that change the moment she appeared in the trailers. The head is smaller than it should be. Nor proportionately correct. Its like they worked on the body (making it "hot" or whatever) and they later attached it to the already finished head. Like a Barbie doll.

Sweet-feathery-Jesus... how people are getting their thongs all tangled up over a HOMAGE!

Her head size in re5 is the same as it was, there is nothing wrong with her proportions if you cheked the model or at least the upper image.
The real difference is:textures(face and hair),no slope in her nose like in remake. That's it.

The thing which interest me the most, how does Jessica plans to swim with dat boots on high hills?omg

Will , the reason of why jill is wearing the tube top and skirt in RE3 , is maybe because she was in her normal casual costume while in raccoon city before the outbreak started , and when it started she was still wearing that .... Hard to figure ? , still i prefer it over jessica's , jill have her own reason (the outbreak) , but does jessica have ? she is sent into a mission why would she wear that ?
Darkness : Tactical reload wasn't even in deadly silence LMAO

Well, it's been a while since I've played Resident Evil 3 namely because it is the one I dislike most out of the series, but doesn't it start out with a prologue type of deal with Jill in her apartment getting supplies and whatnot. I remember her sitting on a bed or something loading a gun, and also wearing the casual outfit. My point being she would have had the option to change into something more appropriate for a zombie outbreak unless all her S.T.A.R.S. attire was at the R.P.D.

Ultimately, I know it was primarily done for the sex appeal, but just Jill's character doesn't feel like someone who would go out like that at any time of the day unless she was going clubbin' or something.

Meh, I'm not overly concerned either way. The games still play the same regardless of what the character is wearing.

I do see now what you mean about the slimming of the face; I had never noticed that before, but yeah, I can totally see it now.

It's not that hard to grasp. When she had the chance to wear the extra pack to carry more ammo and items in RE3 she does just that.

In RE3's opening you see the chaos up to the point where she leaps out of the exploding building. I'm guessing that if she even had her STARS gear with her then she didn't really have time to change. All that mattered to her at that point was her gun.

If she's prepared on a mission the best you see is her in is her STARS and BSAA uniform.

Look at the jawline between the REmake version of Jill and the RE5 version. Its different.

The RE5 model has a more pointy jaw. By doing that, they effectively made her face a tiny bit smaller. But even so, it had an effect on the overall face. Making the nose look bigger in the process. Thus why so many ppl mention her "potatoe nose".

Its not a big deal. But to claim that no changes were made to her face in RE5 is incorrect. They did the same thing with Rebecca in RE0 and REmake. But not as drastic.

Yes! I can't tell you exactly what they did to Rebecca, but I did notice that too.

As for Jill, something about the face-slimming makes her look a touch more masculine to me. I think because it makes her face look a bit more sharp and angled. She doesn't have soft features so much anymore. The Revelations model definitely looks more angled compared to the Resident Evil 5 one. This could just be me though...

Since we are picking holes in characters attire, why does Jessica seem to be wearing a swimming cap and still let the hair hang long and loose out of it, partly over her eye?

I pulled the excerpts from the English translation of "The Art of Resident Evil 5".

Jill's theme color is still blue, as it has always been. I think the fact that her hair changed color when she became and enemy really accentuates the change in her character. I enhanced her raccoon-like features, with heavy lips, relatively larger eyes and nose, and brushed her up to bring out the texture of her skin and veins. For her clothes, I stuck to Jill's "style" while incorporating different aspects from military and sportswear, crafted from a futuristic material.
                            (Yamagata)

I didn't receive any specific instructions to give her different outfits for before she gets caught by Wesker and when she shows up as an enemy, but it was something I chose to do anyway. Considering that she would be all superhuman when she reappeared, and also since years would have passed since she was captured I thought it would be mean to make her wear the same clothes. (laughs) The close-fitting clothes she is wearing are supposed to give the player the idea that she has been experimented on while she was captured.

Although if you really want decision making as far as "fanservice" goes.

"The control mechanism was going to be on her head, but our project leader said "If we put it on her chest... we could open up her chest area and it'd be sexy..." No one disagreed. (laughs)
                            (Anpo)
                            And here we are today....

No its not just you. The Revelations Jill is quite different and not trying at all to look like Julia Voth. Its fine. A lot better than the original model they were using for the game, that's for sure.

but lot of people prefer the REmake version of Jill Valentine. RE5's version is not too shabby. Especially when seen wearing that tight suit (see? Sex SELLS!)

RE fashion is pretty weird, though... even weirder than what you see in a lot of runways.

From the pics Max_radhead posted, we can clearly see that they have the same face. The only difference I see is that RE5 Jill is a bit thinner.
