Its still using the PS2 geometry though, so I would think the Wii version wins out over all.

I too would appreciate some comparison shots, mainly between the PC, GCN, and Wii version though. I really want to see if the Wii version's true widescreen is leaps and bounds above stretching the GCN version into true widescreen on an HDTV quality wise. I'm not sure if you can compare that, but even if you can just answer it, I'd appreciate it.

        Cool vid too!

The geometry in some of those outdoor areas hardly affects the gameplay, and it's in a minor area of the game so I think the higher resolution plus better colour depth would win out.

CVXFREAK also mentioned that the GC game apparently has less dithering in the colour palette than the Wii. It's not from the Wii's video output either, since the GC version looks a tad better running on Wii hardware.

So yeah.. I wanna see the two Nintendo versions side by side.

Maybe a bit off topic but I was just wondering how does RE4 PS2 play on a PS3?

That's a $600.00 dollar question if you know what I mean.

The loading times are smoother/a bit after on the PS3, so stuff like the Krauser QTE fight is nearly as seemless as the GC game. Without the smoothing option on, the game looks good upscaled too.

You guys were right about the pitchforked lady - I picked up my copy this weekend and checked it out.

Anyway, man! I'm having a blast playing through this again, and using the Wii's control scheme makes it 10x more fun in my opinion. My only beef with this version (besides the lack of HD, but that's not Capcom's fault) is with the rifles: why oh why do they force you to use the analog stick to aim with those!? I was really lookin' forward to just poppin' heads left & right, but being forced to use the stick to aim the scope makes it more of a chore than a pleasure in comparison with the Wii remote's pixel-perfect accuracy.

IGN listened to me, head to head comparisons here..

                    Head-to-Head: Resident Evil 4 Wii
How the Wii edition stacks up to Cube, PS2 and PC.
                    By Nate Ahearn

June 22, 2007 - Those of you who have been tooling around Insider for awhile now probably know all there is to know about our famous Head-to-Head series, but here's a recap for the noobies out there. It's designed to let gamers know which version of a multiplatform game will satiate your undying thirst for a good time. We break down each segment of a game, then tell you which platform reigns supreme when the dust settles.

Did we not answer one of your burning questions? Send whatever's on your mind to our mailbag. Also, be sure to check back on Monday when we post our Video Head-to-Head that shows off the famous Fish Boss on all four platforms.

This time around we're taking a look at Resident Evil 4, one of my all-time favorite games. The game was just released on the Wii last Tuesday, and already hit the PS2, GameCube, and PC throughout the last two and a half years. It's a great game on any console, but we're here to tell you which is the best of the best.

For me it's a $515USD or $750USD question. To buy the asian PS3 or the US PS3? That is the question... The US one is much better IMO, the asian one will mess me around when I try go online. Also I think the asian PS3 is like the Japanese PS3 and only plays JP PS1 and PS2 games.

You're right about the latter, but for setup and PS3 games, it doesn't matter which region console you're using. As long as the system's language setting is English and you sign up for a PSN account in your region, you're fine.

You can also create other region accounts if you want to using different emails, and another user account (similar to the multiple user setup of Windows).

The problem I would encounter is not about getting online itself but participating on English servers. I heard that a few games have their own dedicated servers in each region such as Resistance. So since my PS3 would be set to Asia it would only connect to the Resistance Asian servers. I don't care for Resistance but you can bet any decent game will have their own set of regional servers. I don't mind playing on the asian servers as I have a better ping and the people are nice but there is a language barrier.

Resistance is going world wide soon, they are making the update at the moment which will allow that

the gamespot review for RE4 wii is up

Capcom's survival horror classic shines on Oculus Quest 2, making it a must play version for fans that can.

Interesting. Maybe they did it because some regions had low amounts of players, I know they wouldn't do it just to make our lives easier.
