Project X Zone announced for 3DS

Andriasang reports that the latest issue of Famitsu has unveiled the crossover project Nintendo teased back at Nintendo Direct. Project X Zone is an upcoming strategy RPG featuring characters from Capcom, Sega and Namco. More details are expected as Famitsu hits store shelves, and a debut trailer is promised this month. No further release details are available at present.

On the Sega side of things I'm actually pleasantly surprised. They're using a bunch of their more obscure characters besides just Sonic and Tails. Always good to see Valkyria Chronicles get some extra love.

Chris and Jill are from Revelations and you can also see an Ooze and RE1's Tyrant.

No solid words on who's developing this yet, is there? However, seeing as it's a 3DS title and it reeks of Namco x Capcom sequelness ... this might be one of Monolith's current projects? (Thus "technically" putting room for potential Nintendo IP into the mix too?)

It's been confirmed officially that there are MOAR characters in this game (DLC or unlocks).
