While the statement is still true, the SOE attacks apparently happened a day or two prior to the PSN attacks. So Sony was attacked twice in just a few days a couple weeks ago. Unless something else pops up.

Microsoft doesn't sue, they get sued and then throw money up in the air to get out of it.

Impenetrable? Not quite, the xbox 360 is just a PC with a different OS. A very closed one that doesn't allow Steam to be run on the machine I mind you. Also, Halo stopped being relevant a long time ago and there were always better FPS games on the PC. Halo without Bungie is like a dog without its master.
      Stop double posting.

And let me find two references for you:

I bet you really think I was the Virtual Boy's no.1 fan as well, eh?

Amen bro Halo is a load of crap. My mate is a big fan and told me for the last 3 games this is going to be the best thing ever and when he put the game on I instantly was begging him to turn it off. What an over rated pile of nothing!!!! Halo is shite almost as bad as Final Fantasy. Wheres the story? Graphics? Character? Next time he asks me round to play it I know exactly what I'm going to tell him F*** O**. Fill in the gaps.

              • Very interesting update on the blog today. Kaz Hirai had to answer to the US House of Representatives.

It also appears as though it was Anonymous who were responsible after all.

We also informed the subcommittee of the following:

Sony has been the victim of a very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber attack.
We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”
                Spoiler:

By April 25, forensic teams were able to confirm the scope of the personal data they believed had been taken, and could not rule out whether credit card information had been accessed. On April 26, we notified customers of those facts.
As of today, the major credit card companies have not reported any fraudulent transactions that they believe are the direct result of this cyber attack.
Protecting individuals’ personal data is the highestpriority and ensuring that the Internet can be made secure for commerce is also essential. Worldwide, countries and businesses will have to come together to ensure the safety of commerce over the Internet and find ways to combat cybercrime and cyber terrorism.
We are taking a number of steps to prevent future breaches, including enhanced levels of data protection and encryption; enhanced ability to detect software intrusions, unauthorized access and unusual activity patterns; additional firewalls; establishment of a new data center in an undisclosed location with increased security; and the naming of a new Chief Information Security Officer.

In short, they still don't know when PSN will be back, saying they'll provide "specific details shortly."
Today, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing in Washington, DC on “The Threat of Data Theft to American Consumers.” Kazuo Hirai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sony Computer Entertainment America, submitted written answers to questions posed by the [...]

                • Still, can't discount the possibility that it was a splinter group acting seperately from Anonymous. Nothing to stop them from claiming to be Anonymous, afterall it's a group that anyone could claim to be part of.

You'd rather be up ahead of schedule and left open to possibly more attacks in the future?

                        • In other words the network is going to be slow as pig shit when they bring it back up. There's probably going to be some sort of enormous patch to download as well, but as long as it's safer I guess it's for the best.

I might have double posted but you double backed on yourself.

I believe I've read somewhere that anonymous denied responsibility but did not rule out that it might have been a splinter group. For all we know Microsoft might have hired them to do it and covered their tracks.
